I used to belong to a station near Pittsburgh (no longer in service) that the siren was the only way I was alerted to a call as there weren’t enough plectron monitors or pagers to go around. Today’s tech (active 911 and Chief 360 apps) and MARCS/Tyler paging has made the station siren obsolete. Here in OH, we only use them for tornado warnings.

My county still uses sirens and most everyone here also has a pager, radio and/or IAR app on their phone. When 1 doesn't work, the others will.

There are different manpower requirements for different states (for example some states require NFPA 1710 & 1720 while other do not follow the guidelines) that require responding apparatus to have certain levels of staffing before responding, or if there isn't sufficient staffing responding at say the 5 minute mark, then dispatch adds the missing apparatus from the next alarm until the staffing minimums are met. I do not know if Penn Wynne Fire is volunteer, a combination dept or fully paid, but I'm guessing from the response it is at least a combination Fire Dept.

@@MaxsFireVideography I know the feeling. I stopped doing response videos when I started volunteering. I'll be doing some periodically though. If and when you get on, see if the Chief's will permit you to put a go-pro in one of the rigs when you get a call to record the response. I know of a senior man at Willow Street Fire Company south of Lancaster who does that.

Looks like Penn Wynne is a suburb of Philadelphia. They fly the Canadian flag to honor one of their brothers, who perished while fighting a house fire on July 4, 2021. He had prepared to move back to his native Canada the following day.
