Love it also ❤ Love the Jerseys too, too bad they're going for slaughter. The pens look pretty full today.

Love your awesome dogs but I hate seeing sweet Jersey cows at a sales barn, the should be in a snug little barn being milked every day by a sweet lady with a passel of kids. They were more part of the family than just livestock in my life. Nothing sweeter than milking your little Jersey twice a day.

I agree! I believe that the Jersey was the most popular milk cow back in the past, but not so much because they don't give tons of milk like Holsteins do. However, Jersey milk is incomparable to Holsteins because of the much higher butterfat content that allows you to make butters, ice cream, and a wide variety of cheeses. Their meat is also much tastier than Holsteins, Angus, and Herefords. People don't know it, but contrary to popular belief, they are not eating Angus or whatever, they're actually eating Jersey meat. Ha ha!

@@XxShellyW13xX well I don’t like hearing about eating them, I just know they have the best milk ever and they are the sweetest cow you could ever own, I had a couple that I never even brought in to milk- I’d just go out to the pasture twice a day with a bucket and my stool and milk them wherever they happened to be. They are just the most lovely cows you can ever own. Edit - I disagree about the amount of milk- I got three gallons a day easy out of my best jerseys. If you compare body weight, feed consumption, butter fat content, the jersey wins. They are small, eat less and produce copious amounts of high fat milk. The down side is they are somewhat delicate and get mastitis easily if you don’t know how to milk properly. They are also susceptible to milk fever as they produce so much milk when they calve that it can deplete them of calcium and they go into shock and die.
