This was amazing! I was born in Dallas back in 81 and have a few blurry memories of Penny Whistle Park. Watching this video brought a lot of the missing pieces back for me. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

This video of Penny Whistle Park is one of the very best on KZitem. I went there for my first time in 1977, the same year that the movie STAR WARS was still playing in theaters. By the way, I saw it at General Cinema Northpark 1 & 2 on their larger auditorium with 1,100 seats. When Darth Vader turned on his red light Saber, I turned my head down as I covered my face with my arms. Back to Penny Whistle Park memories. I went there in June of 1978, about 6 months before my dad unexpectedly passed away in January of 1979. I went back to Penny Whistle Park many more times after that, even though I sadly did not have my dad to enjoy it with. I still had fun anyway, and always got a helium balloon with the Penny Whistle Park logo on it, usually a light blue, yellow, or a red balloon. They also had pink and orange balloons for a total of 5 colors. To the owner of this video, would it be alright if I E-mail you a message? Just wanted to share a few of my memories of this amusement park that is now gone forever. I am considering putting together a video documentary about Penny Whistle Park, and if you are alright with it, I would be glad to include parts of your video. Please let me know either way, and would like to hear back from you.

Oh. My. Gosh. About 5 minutes into the video...the boat ride...I rang the bell on one of the blue boats almost 35 years ago as a kid! I remember riding several of those rides!

One of the most vivid memories I have of Penny Whistle Park (and believe me, I have many), is of me, at three or four years old, riding the boats, and putting my hands in the ride's water... The other vivid memory I have is of a 30-something, *BIG*-haired, *"Goldbergs"* shoulder pad and rhinestone blouse-wearing version of Mama, telling me to "stop it or she would whoop my butt!" LMAO! Memories... Penny Whistle needs to come back, man... That place was a winner! ;-)

Thank you so much for sharing! I remember this place! I must have been 6 or 7 like 1984 and we had a birthday party there! I remember the coaster in the front by the windows and the scary clowns and the freakish fortune teller. She creeped me out! LOL. I miss those days...no bills, moma cooked supper, ball pits! Now we can't have ball pits because "germs". Really? I turned out fine! Thanks a bnch for sharing!

I was just staring at the Google search page... trying to think of things from my early childhood that I loved and make me smile to this day when I come across them.. . .. I typed in Penny Whistle Park and smiled when I saw your post! :D I'm 22 now, but gah I loved that place & remember it well... the creepy Gypsy lady in the glass box (lol).. . My favorite ride was The Whip! That's the ride where 2 kids fit in a little car...

so sad that the park is no longer in existence. It will live forever in our memories of watching our children having soo much fun is such a protected environment...all inside to enjoy no matter the weather. Its a shame the city did not step in restore and make it part if the city parks system...shame shame on you city of Dallas for letting such a treasure slip forever away. What a project that would be to see all Dallas communities come together and build another one that will forever stand for all future generations. Dan Appelson I know it was two years ago when you posted this.. I just found this video. Sorry. If I remember correctly, that was a toy you could get there. A little E.T. Finger that slid over yours so you could have the “glowing finger” like he did in the film. It was kind of blue, with a red tip.
