I also have the 1860 Black Forest Max, and skipped over the regular Black Forest. The section isn't overly long, and the body has a rubbery texture to it. As for Majohn nibs, I've had problems with one or two of them in the past, but the fine nib in my C4 has been wonderful to write with. I have another tip for you Gary. Instead of "priming the feed" as it were, I have been using an empty ink sample vial and putting water in it. When a nib seems to have dried out, I just give the nib a quick dip in the water & it's back writing normal again. Of course, I empty then refill the vial with fresh water periodically.

I have the HongDian Blackforest Max. It currently has 🎉a medium nib in it it and is a very pleasant writer. Although the original Blackforest is also a nice writer, I prefer the larger Max.Thanks for the video.

The Black Forest Max is a much better pen in the hand. It has a wider section and there is a little more weight. If there was a blue version, I would have bought that instead of the black color. I think the Sport may indeed be #1 this month. For personal reasons, I would love to see the Jotter win. It would be an uphill battle with the Sport, but one has to support an underdog now and then. I just ordered the C2. I like the styling and it has a #6 nib. Hopefully it will work well. Your problems with the C3 is not something I wish to deal with.
