About six minutes in you got Mitch slapped! You should react to the twelve Sing Off performances from 2011. These are the very first performances from Pentatonix. The three main singers (Scott, Mitch, & Kirstie) were “The Trio” in high school. They added Avi (bass) and Kevin (beatboxer) to form Pentatonix to compete in the Sing Off. They all didn’t get together until two days before the audition. The rest is history.

He still missed Scott doing crazy low bass during avi's solo. I had to watch this so many times and still had to read it in a comment... I was convinced it was Kevin, but then heard Kevin sing one time and was puzzled again.... Who was singing that bass... No one ever catches it in bohemian rhapsody either. He is singing crazy low harmony with avi on the "will not let you go" section....of course once you watch sound of silence you know Scott sings low too... But most people watch this one first. I have NEVER heard anyone puzzled about who is singing bass under avi in this. Of course I ahvr also never seen anyone notice mitch harmonizing with Kirstie....

Any question about Pentatonix will be answered by their fans. We are a dedicated group. Each individual person is totally talented but together there are no words to describe them except maybe “angelic choir” comes close. Avi is a basso profundo, but he also has a higher register that makes him very flexible with an insane range. Mitch is a wonder. He is a counter tenor not very many of them around. He also has an insane range. You’ve heard his higher register but there are some songs where his voice is in his lower range. He has one of the clearest diction singing I’ve ever heard. Each word seems so crisp and clean. Kirstie is a soprano but she also has a lower register. She has also been on Broadway in Kinky Boots and I think learned how to project her voice so it sounds even stronger and more resonant in her later singing. Scott is a tenor but he also has an incredible range. Many times when Avi is singing in his higher range like Hallalulah, Scott takes over the bass line. He also plays piano. Kevin is a law unto himself. He is so talented - beatboxer supreme, cello player, piano, singer, writer, speaks Mandarin Chinese. He has his own You Tube channel that shows his abilities but he keeps improving himself . Sigh…… You‘ll see what I mean as you continue down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. 🤪😊🥰

Now that I have joined Pentaholics Annonymous I just have to listen to everything they have done. I would advise that you start with one of their early performances from 9 years ago in the Sing Off when they were just schoolkids - Dog Days are Over. Some of my other favourites are... Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Did You Know, Somebody That I Used to Know, Can you Feel the Love Tonight, Sound of Silence, Amazing Grace. Actually, I think this is about the 10th time I've pulled up this reaction video, so, at this moment (82,282 views on 12/27/21) I can attest to its popularity. But I really want to comment on Scott's ability to cover Avi's bass line when Avi has his solo. Everybody knows it's Scott, it gets commented on that he's taking the bass, but no one ever remarks on how friggin' GOOD he is at it. We all go bug-eyed at Mitch's ability to soar, or Avi's talent at blowing up speakers. Kevin is a miracle on two legs and Kirstie's voice is one of my favorite female vocals (she's just so DAMN good). Scott is just unbelievably talented in so many ways, and doesn't get nearly the heaps of fulsome praise I think he deserves. I really think he's been one of the driving forces behind Pentatonix from the very beginning, and I think that joking animated video of him demanding another Christmas album might actually be more honest than we know. :D (Sulks and all. :D )

Welcome to the Pentaholic fam. Your Mitch-slapped face was the ticket. A few suggestions: Love Again and Can't Sleep Love (2 originals), Evolution of Michael Jackson (mashup of about 25 MJ songs), and Love Me When I Don't (another original). The 5 in this video were the original group from 2011 to 2017. Avi Kaplan, bass, left in 2017, and videos after that will have Matt Sallee. The other 4 are the same, although they sometimes change their looks. Looking forward to more PTX.

Shortly before he passed Leonard Cohen, the gentleman who wrote the song, heard Pentatonix cover. He said it was the best cover of hallelujah he had ever heard. It is such a joy watching somebody discovering Pentatonix. In particular with hallelujah when Mitch, the gentleman In the hat, Sings. It's called the Mitch slap or the Mitch effect. He is a countertenor and actually goes higher. Pentatonix never does a song in studio that they cannot reproduce live. Listen to the live Version from their Christmas special. The following is a link to a 1 hour lyric video of Pentatonix singing hallelujah. Keep doing Pentatonix Reactions and Us Pentaholic's wil flock to you. We are a loyal and passionate fan base and will never steer you wrong. If this almost brought you to tears as it has too many many reactors try Amazing grace. Loved your reaction ❤️ No matter how many times you see this one, it still has that emotional effect, a tribute to their genius. Try Run To You, an original by them.

I just subbed to your channel because I am a Pentaholic and I love watching new reactors being introduced to PTX. Enjoy your journey down the PTX rabbit hole and we Pentaholics will guide you on your way. Loved your emotional reaction and NEVER be embarrassed to show your feelings. PTX makes you feel and respond to their music all the time. We always laugh when new reactors hear Mitch’s range for the first time: you got “Mitch slapped.” 🤣 Please listen to Shallow, Amazing Grace, Sound of Silence, Imagine, Love Me When I Don’t.

Watching Mitch-slap face reactions is my new hobby! I love seeing people get Mitch-slapped for the first time. I had the same reaction my first time too.
