I'm so proud of this k1. Because I'm only one of K1 user in Myanmar (BURMA).

I was waiting for this review and you absolutely conform my findings. The image quality is indeed fantastic , however the hand held images stabilization is not as advertised, I shot at 1/60 and was disappointed. Focusing is slow. The HDR can get weird in post processing, I understand one needs Pentax post-processing software to get it correct, however, "for the life of me," I can't work their " SilyPix software. Nice job ER, your work is very much appreciated around here.

Strange to hear your comment about the stabilization. I've shot hand held at 200mm 1/30 second with good results. Of course I wouldn't shoot that way all the time, as you're hit / miss rate will be worse then normal, but I did find it doable.

thanks as always for watching and tuning in rick! But yeah the overall camera is slow, but the stills quality is top notch

Depends on how well you know the camera too. I work as a pro concert photographer with 2 K-1's. fps is the only issue i have sometimes. Files are stunning. Spot metering and singel point AF on AF-C with one of the new zooms, gives you an ok fast AF.

It's funny how people make a big deal out of video, as if any DSLR makes good video. When I mean good I mean GOOD. People who are serious about videography should really look into cameras designed for that.

While true thats overthinking though. Many people dont need cinema cameras. The fact that these cameras have video features is outstanding but that doesnt excuse brands, sometimes, of making horrible video. Fuji and Pentax are on the lowest end video wise. No one should need to spend 6K and up just to have video, not practical.

I love this camera. The price has gone up since I purchased, but it's still worth the cost. There are not many full-frame options in a price range most people are willing to spend on a camera, and these specs are monstrous compared to anything in the same range. It has the K-mount lens so I've been able to use my old film-era lenses, which has been awesome. There is no pop-up flash built in to the body but the sharpness at high ISO almost makes it unnecessary, plus it has a hot shoe mount for when you do want a flash. The body is big and heavy, but if you're going for a FF you're probably okay with that. The auto-focus is great but if you primarily shoot sports you'll find the speed lacking. Just saw this on Amazon: Pentax K-1 Full Frame Camera by Pentax amzn.to/2hjOEHO

Good review. Was surprised on your opinion on the pixel shift. Others have had some spectacular results with it. Look forward to your review on the two lenses.

Nice review. Bought mine two weeks ago, absolutely in love with it (wife might get jealous soon :). This was my first ff camera (worked with d800 few years ago, but it wasn't mine, was a studio rig), and certainly it has massive advantages over my previous mft setup. Once I got used to menu systems I found myself using it with ease at all times. I do miss having histogram and exposure preview in the viewfinder (previous camera had an ovf) but it's not a massive deal. Af is a bit iffy, fully agree with you on that, hoping maybe Pentax can improve it a bit with updates (one can dream). As I've recently switched to landscape photography, I find this to be a great tool for anything I throw at it, which is all I wanted. Some good info on pentaxforums helped to find hidden features of the system too, like the green button functionality. Overall I'm extremely happy, and now all I'm missing is more glass to combine with my k-1. Another cool thing is that there's more and more smaller third party manufacturers that release for k mount, like irix 15 2.4 and laowa 12 2.8, both of which I'm considering for my Uwa needs. Hope Sigma releases art line for the k mount (missing lenses anyway), would be just perfect.

Every feature including the kitchen sink but NO 5:4 ratio format available. So NOT a professional level camera.

years ago, I remember I wanted to buy my first digital SLR , I was shortlisted 2 camera, canon xti (400d) and Samsung gx20 (intact it was a rebranded Pentax ). I chose the canon though Pentax offered much better lens kit for the same money. thanks god, I was about to be a pentaxian. surprisingly there was no Nikon on my list. what was I thinking..

I have K-5. It's fiddly to pull out SD card, too. But I rather slip finger from SD card after I press it. And than spring shoots SD card right out into my other hand :)

Nice camera, you said that the af system is slow but is it possible to use him to shoot some sport photography like formula one? Or is it the worst af syst. never made ^^'?
