Weird, eta prime seem to get quite alot better result with this PC based on the cs go test, also 720p lowest settings, easily double of the 15-25+ fps of yours. Passive cooling can work for this power range of cpu, but they need to be larger/thicker to accommodate a larger heatsink. If the case itself is metal (similar to those generic Chinese branded Intel mini PCs) , it can even be designed to be an extension of the heatsink like what we see for other models.

That’s odd I had the latest Intel drivers. I guess he must have had better thermals than my unit so his wasn’t throttling like mine was?

I made the mistake of getting an Asus PN41 with Celeron N5100. Having looked at Asus' datasheet for this mini PC and seeing it can handle up to 3 displays, and has HDMI 2.0, I reckoned surely it had to be more than enough for a simple "tv box" that would primarily be used to stream (very highly compressed) 4k videos (youtube, netflix, hbo, etc). Not so! The integrated Intel UDH graphics is *maybe* capable enough for a single 4k stream at 60 Hz, but I am hitting the CPU ceiling even with 1080p KZitem streams, causing them to stutter and shear, even if nothing but the browser is running, even if no other tabs are open. Turns out my assumption that ANY new CPU and/or PC system first released in 2021 would be far superior to my old Lenovo Yoga (710-14IKB bought on Black Friday 2017) with respect to 4k streaming... was utterly incorrect. Who they sell these PCs for is a bit of a mystery to me. Are there really people who never stream video??

Hi Chris the Geekbench 5 score seems far too low. I received both the Chuwi Hi10 Go(tablet) and Gemibook X (laptop) last week, they are both N5100 powered and I got around 620 single core on both. Obviously they don't turbo as high as this one. So something definitely up with it. As you say its probably the thermals, I am keen to see Geekbench on a N6000 runnung properly.

Chris, something's MAJORLY wrong with your unit. Check out the CPU frequency while you are switching Chrome tabs; it's stuck down at the 0.8GHz mark, and still has headroom according to the graph in Task Manager. The CPU is being forced into a fake Cx state. This is a clear indication of throttling due to thermal constraints or a power saving setting in Windows. You may have accidentally switched to a power saver profile, or the CPU heatsink might not be mounted correctly, or the TDP might be set very low. I think you should take down this review and check out the issue and/or discuss with the manufacturer first. What you're seeing is not normal and almost certainly won't happen to other customers who buy this machine.
@Techtablets

Hi there was nothing wrong with my power settings yes it was throttling and that’s what happened on my unit so that’s what I’ll report. Power limited and later thermal throttling especially the gaming performance I was not expecting that but each time I tired it was the same no matter what and on the latest Intel drivers.
@olorinhenderson

@@Techtablets I wholeheartedly disagree with your judgement here. You're admitting that there is a major issue with your particular system yet pushing out a review that is centered around this problem, without allowing the manufacturer to correct it. It could be something as simple as a detached CPU heatsink, which unfortunately can happen during shipping as I'm sure you know very well, but advising users against the unit because of this defect isn't the behaviour I'd expect to see from a KZitem tech reviewer. If you had received a faulty iPhone from Apple that was exhibiting 50% worse performance than all of its predecessors, you would speak to Apple first before making a review front-and-center telling people how bad the product is. Why is this product different? I am triggered to the fullest extent here Chris because I know that you have seen incredibly fluid performance from lesser specification systems in this Intel generation, so you evidently know from your own first-hand experience that your unit here is faulty. I just can't understand why you are being so biased and favoring larger manufacturers?
