This was a really solid conversation. It shows what makes this platform so dope. No need for celebrity. Just thinking and sharing ideas about living this thing

1 thing that amazes black families don't have money to fund their own businesses, but come funeral 50grang will be put together in 3days.. we glorify the dead more than the living

Death is indeed for the living. So sad. Indian Muslims got it right. We refuse to learn from the people that employ us but quick to point out how chauvinistic they are while glorifying "cultural" systems that keep us poor in the midst of great opportunity of becoming competitive with the numbers that we have as a people.

This pains and frustrates me so much. Even how "busy" we are to be there for each other in good times and bad while people are alive, but can cancel everything for a funeral.
@professor_mnwanati

I dont appreciate your tone because, according to our culture as Africans, a funeral is a dignified event. We have to be respectful when speaking about funerals. When you compare a funeral with a business you are out of order. People start a business with a smile on their face but, they organise a funeral with broken hearts. Therefore it is not acceptable to compare funeral funds with business funds. I understand that you are passionate about entrepreneurship and capitalism but this is Africa it is not America. We shall not tolerate people who equate funeral funding to business funding. African people have got respect for funerals. They dont use funerals as weapons of comparison and awareness.

@@professor_mnwanati Sadly, most of these conversations are taking place without any historical or cultural context, that is why off colour statements are made about marriage and funerals, which are both sacred rites of passage in the African society. Little wonder these same people are obsessed with toxic capitalism. just from their comments, you can tell they were raised in dysfunction, and are in dire need of therapy, instead thanks to social media they have huge platforms to disseminate their toxic views without pushback.

"Wisdom is bleak, a word from the wise." - Lil Wayne. I'm 30min in the intellectual privilege you're speaking of Pen, from what Sizwe has been saying I wouldn't describe it as that rather it's self awareness which I suppose is in short supply. Is self awareness really a privilege though? As Sizwe & the Buddhists have said life is pain especially if you have deeper insight into your own experience/existence kodwa ndiyakuva on the concept of intellectual privilege in the context you've painted an advantage above the rest, common sense.

@siya samente It's bad enough the apartheid regime separated and destroyed Black families, and now we actually have a Black man advocating the same nonsense ,instead of advocating ways to strengthen the Black family. Any right thinking person who watches this show can see that Penuel was raised in dysfunction and should be in therapy, instead he has a whole platform where he's running his mouth advocating the ruination of the Black family. No surprises there coming from a man who has 5 children with 4 different women. Sizwe on the other hand is mroe grounded because he was raised by both parents.

As a huge fan of this podcast, I'm so disappointed. I may be wrong, but as students at Eastcape Midlands TVET College, we really need our voices to be heard. As you mentioned in the previous episode with Penson and Nota, you promised to visit our campuses and hear us out. The other day, I had to tweet about this, and Penson did reply, saying he was interested in coming, but from there I wasn't sure if really you were going to do it.

Great conversation. The concept Penuel touched on that people should progress to just upping and leaving relationships because it’s nolonger as rosey sounds nice and easy but it’s not beneficial for women and children because in most cases the women is the one that leaves with the children now every relationship she leaves with kids and they have to adjust to different family dynamics etc. it might make sense for men for women not so much.

Um, men need to stop meadering around in their 20s then. Learn to get your shit together and then MARRY. Stop leading women along in 10 year long term relationships where they have a biological ticking clock. ALL my uncles had a starter girlfriend who had their first babies in their 20s and THEN married another woman once they got their priorities after 30.
