After seeing that a number of places in Cornwall had been flooded on this morning's high tide I thought I'd go and check out Penzance Harbour. Spring high tides combined with a bit of a storm surge and low pressure made for one of the highest tides I recall seeing.
The only time I remember seeing a higher tide was around 20 years back during a monster storm. That time the water did make it over the wall separating the car park from the harbour and I remember a couple of cars bobbing around.
This time the water did almost make it over the road at the end of Ross Bridge and as always on big high tides the water covered the road at the foot of Abbey Slip. You can usually walk across on the higher footpath, but not this time. Still the swimmers enjoyed it!
