Climate change has led to rapid glacier melt in recent decades, including mountain glaciers like the Rhône Glacier in the Alps. In Valais, Switzerland, an ice grotto carved into the glacier has been a popular tourist destination for over a century, but the glacier has been disappearing each year, putting the town's landmark in jeopardy. So, the town has come up with a DIY solution to protect a section of glacier from the melt. Each summer large felt blankets are laid across the ice to protect it from the sun. Klaus visits the glacier to photograph this unusual landscape and find out if the blankets are working.
