I imagine there will be a surge in subscribers from LFC fans. Thanks for the wonderful memories Pep! May you make many more, except against LFC. YNWA!

I hope Pep does well, as someone who goes to games at Anfield it was often his suggestions to Klopp that changed games in our favour. I really wish it was him not Slot here.

Is he the first RBS coach who doesn’t fully speaks German? I know he is talented and speak multiple languages, I am surprised he didn’t pick up German after being next to Klopp for so long.

Why would he pick up German from Klopp? Klopp spends/spent all day at LFC speaking English with everyone, why would he switch to German when talking (privately) to Lijnders, unless Lijnders specifically asked him to? (and why would he ask that, unless he knew a move to a German-speaking place was imminent) If anything, Klopp is more likely to have picked up Dutch by now, with 3 Dutch players in the current squad plus Lijnders and Wijnaldum in the past. Lijnders's German is probably pretty decent, but that's because he would have learned German in school or generally in childhood, since he grew up in Limburg, close to the Dutch/German border.

As for your question, I don't think Óscar García spoke (fluent) German when he came to RBS. Trappatoni's German wasn't perfect either by all accounts. At 7:50 Lijnders says, in pretty ok German, that he understood everything but that he hasn't practiced it for a long time. I'm sure he'll be fine with speaking German on a daily basis in a few months' time.
