Can this run on 12v? And/or how much power do they draw?
@MobileInternetResourceCenter

Yes, it can run off 12v. We don't track power draw, but it should be in their spec sheet if you check Peplink's website.

can you install the new modems in the old model?

No, Peplink devices are not designed for swapping modem modules - they are soldered in.

Excellent information! I am a solo user: house and RV … currently using a Cradlepoint 4g router and deciding on an upgrade. BR2 is more than I need (and can afford!) but will look at BR1 and also your website list. Thank you!! ***and LOVE the cat 🐱 ❤

I don’t need the capability of the BR2. Is the BR1 going through the same upgrade? If so, what’s the best way to identify the new version?

The BR1 5G is available now as well with the x62 shipping now from authorized distributors including MMH. Those are the two models that launched with x62.

As mentioned in this video, yes, the BR1 Pro also is getting this update and we'll have one in soon for evaluation. It will have the same model number identifier we covered.

I will instal this in a sailing catamaran and will be using Starlink and cellular data. Can I get your opinion on cellular antenna and location? I am considering installing the antenna on the spreader which will be about 20 feet above the router (26 feet above the water line). A secondary option is on of the coach roof above the cockpit which would be about 8 feet above the router ( 14 feet above the waterline). If I chose the secondary option, the antenna needs to be small and flat in order not to be caught on dangling reefing lines from the sail. My assumption is that the higher location would give me better range. Finally, do you have a recommendation on wiring to use for the external antenna on these long runs?

The MIRC is a tremendous resource. Thank you. Hopefully you can add to what you had to say here. Can you advise of another source for the X62 or X65 Qualcomm (other than PepLink). Frankly, I just can't afford the extremely high prices they are asking. (Fixed income retirement is NOT all that.!!). Is there a resource that would list availability of competing products.?? Thanks for all you do.

Head on over to our website, and we list all cellular routers & hotspots we're tracking there - with filters to narrow in on the features important to you: www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/mobile-hotspots-and-modems/

Finally! Been waiting. How did they not get this approved for the x65 though? Phones are in the x75 now and would have better banding sans antenna. I know they can't move as fast as phones but how big of a difference to wait for someone to have an x65? Also, can you explain the difference between "dual" modem vs "redundant" Sims on a single. Does it actually aggregate the power of 2 connections at the same time?
@MobileInternetResourceCenter

We actually covered why Peplink couldn't go with the X65 in our fireside chat with MMH yesterday - basically it's not gone through modem module certification yet so it would have delayed release quite a bit, supply chain issues, would out-class the CPU anyway, and routers don't support mmW. Chat link: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r5iC1mqamISklpw We also have content on dual versus single modems here: xkzitem.info/news/bejne/2IeHx6GbnXlldqA Peplink supports failover, load balancing and bonding (which is covered in our member content at www.rvmobileinternet.com/peplink-resources)

1) Is there any possibility of upgrading a 1st generation BR2, either by sending it to Peplink, or by replacing a daughter board inside the router? 2) The BR2 supports USB modems. Is Peplink selling USB modems with the updated 5g radio yet?

Yeah, that's a really good question otherwise I might have to try and figure out if I can return the one I just bought.

No, there is no upgrade path from the X55 version (but you can sell your old one). And they should be rolling out updated MAX Adapters with the x62 in the future.

I figured something like this was coming since they were offering existing customers a substantial discount.
