I made this for my family and it was so delicious thank you. The only thing I’m changing is doubling up on everything but the beef. Then doubling up on the sauce ingredients. We’re trying to cut back on our meat intake. Then up our vegetables. That is one wonderful thing about Asian cooking. You can shove those vegetables into your family and they love them that way!!!!

I was looking for homemade Chinese food for my mom where I could control the salt. She loves the food, but can't handle the salt they add. This hit the spot for her, the softness of the meat was wonderful and she could taste the difference. It's gonna save me so many trips to the restaurant. Thank you so much!!!

First, I want to tell you I love your channel. Question : what is the purpose of marinating the beef in rice wine vinegar and baking soda?
@Seriously_Eh
4 жыл бұрын
It's a rice wine marinade, not rice wine vinegar, and baking soda. Acidity of wine "breaks down" tough meat fibres, I do believe. (Restaurants often soak ribs in water and baking soda, in order to tenderize baby back ribs, then boil, then add barbecue sauce, and finally, bake.) Sodium bicarbonate in marinade gives any cut of meat that soft slippery texture which Chinese restaurant meat dishes often, if not always, have. Otherwise, you'll likely experience a tough (inauthentic) texture. Blanching helps achieve that desired cooked meat texture as well. Cooking is partly science...
