Percee P, man. There’s no words that do this man justice. Such a talented emcee. His Perseverence album is a classic. A true heads album. He’s a good dude too. I hope he drops he another album. 🙏

7:19 what he’s saying, we need more of this in today’s artists. Hate hearing these new kids talking about the people before them being old and they never needed them to succeed in their work. That’s such bs. Wouldn’t have anything without these legends laying the foundation and sparking the inspiration they had to start. Love this

Late 1988, I worked security in the lobby of the GE building at 51st and Lexington Ave. In the after hours, I would play the radio listening to KISS FM. The joint Let The Homicides Begin with Percee P and another MC would come on. Man the beat would thump on that sound system so nice but, the flow of Percee was SO DOPE! The messed up part was, I don't remember if it was Chuck Chillout or Red Alert(think it was Red on Fridays), never said the name of the song or the artist. But I knew the bassline was from a classic R&B song. It took me decades to finally find out who that was, thanks to the internet/KZitem. Finally purchased Percee P from Discogs. However, there was another song that blended into Homicides that still remains a mystery to me. All I remember was that MC said "I'm like corn on the cob girl, so come butter me" and vocal sample with a female going "Give me what you got". But damn, 1988-1989 was crazy with so much new music and artist debuts. Long live 1988!

I got J Dilla's Ruff Draft in 04, I then checked his back catalog. I get Champion Sound and hear Percee P crush his track. A few years later I get Perseverance. I'm an Aussie who's been pumping Percee for years. Much love.

Netflix should do a documentary on that battle. The ice cream truck alone makes it the illest thing I've ever seen.
