About the slapsticks: does harder wood produce a louder sound than a same size, softer wood (when you use the same force at both)? Or is it just the tone that changes, and volume doesn't change between hard or soft wood?

Hardwood is used because softwood like pine will split over time. Poplar or oak works well as does maple.

@@rickdior Thanks :) And what about volume? Is there a difference between hardwood and soft wood? Or can you only produce more volume with a bigger slapstick and/or more force applied?

@@rickdior Ok thank you. Is there a difference in volume between hard- and softwood? Or to go louder, do you need more force, and/or bigger slapsticks?
