Hello Hilmar, I've got an old chrome oven shelf and I use this (resting on the small skewers) to cook lamb chops on. Also, grab a burger clamp to easily cook burgers and courgette sticks/fingers brushed with oil and salted. You can also get a perforated frying pan for cooking chopped sweet peppers marinated in oil and smoked paprika, mushrooms take up a lot of flavour when cooked this way too. You can also use a flat clamp to cook kippers on; great on a Sunday morning for breakfast :) Just let your imagination run wild. I've even cook a Tomahawk steak on the oven shelf resting on the big skewers, so you can raise and lower the meat. Don't forget to add salt at the beginning of the cooking process to ensure the smoke aroma 'sticks' to the meat/veg, otherwise you won't get the full flavour from your efforts.

Hi Guys sorry for not replying earlier!! Thanks for your nice comments. Weison, I got this from Haringey in London, Lynbo Green Lanes N4 1HE. The shop has stopped stocking them now, but you can ask them to get one if you call 020 8340 5928. Chris, the tongs are custom made out of stainless steel by a friend :)

Hi Kelvin, thanks. You can get hold of the BBQ from Kikis butchers in Barnet, www.yell.com/biz/kikis-quality-meat-barnet-5946998/ They have three different types, give them a call and they'll explain what they've got and the prices. Mine has 11 small skewers and 3 long ones as you can see. The mains-powered adjustable motor is bought separately and I don't know if they have them. They are expensive but worth it. Cheers Harry

Not for fresh, whole chicken thighs with the bone-in, with this amount of hot charcoal! You'll set the coals on fire with all of the fat that's dripping off very quickly, the skin will go black with the soot coming off the flames. If you can keep the flames down, you will burn the outside of the chicken before it's cooked through, which won't be great for your stomach.

I noticed you are using briquettes NOT charcoal lump wood charcoal, in fact I'm rather disappointing and question how this product manufactured briquettes can be marketed and called charcoal since it's not charcoal.
@YouGetwild
4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, obviously I am using a high proportion of lumpwood charcoal and some briquettes, to maintain a constant temperature and keep some lower grade charcoal pieces going during the cook. Briquettes are of course a manufactured product and according to this article, www.madehow.com/Volume-4/Charcoal-Briquette.html, they may contain wood, but also coal, as well as other gubbins for various different reasons.

No ! No ! No ! That is NOT the way to season Chicken !!! You are suppose to season the Chicken BEFORE you cook it , NOT afterwards !!!
@YouGetwild
6 жыл бұрын
No matter what I say it will make no difference to you. You enjoy your food your way, I will enjoy it my way. If you've never had it like this, then you cannot comment on the way I cook it. What you are talking about is two completly different flavours and outcomes.

No seasoning no condiments!! No good!
@YouGetwild
4 жыл бұрын
Last time I looked, salt is a seasoning. What you want is the pure smoky chicken flavour, nothing else. Obviously you have never ever tried this style of BBQ food. Why do you need condiments (usually full of sugar), surely these would mask the pure flavour of the chicken, and especially the crispy skin.
