This is super nice but we have to see how the fighting game industry will respond to SF6 Modern Controls. I mean, the MC is a thin blonde one short of a macro on your controller. So maybe a niche change is in order? Idk. Awesome vid as always and that controller is *Chef Kiss*

Maybe a small change is in order to rulesets. I personally don't care if my opponent uses this (unlike some tech I'm going to feature in an upcoming vid :O ...) If Cross-ups and all-button controllers are fair game, I don't feel like the Antagonist does anything they can't do already. Just my opinion though. Thanks for your support as always!

i see your point about it being like what hitbox players can do, but I think this is still technically a macro and shouldnt be allowed. Essentially, you have one button capable of inputting 2 different outputs depending on what youre holding, i.e. one button capable of pressing either "left" or "right". whereas when hitbox players use SOCD, they still have to press diffferent buttons for each direction. then again, if you just had it as 2 buttons then its basically just a hitbox. Would be interested to hear what you think on this. fwiw I am a stick user

I wouldn't consider this a true macro, but it's in a grey area for sure, though I don't think it really adds anything crazier than what's already possible with an all-button controller. There are tons of wild shortcuts with that style of input device. I don't really use any characters that benefit from this, but I guess I wouldn't be scared/sad/upset if my opponent was using this. They aren't going to beat me because they get out a boom 2 frames quicker than usual. I can see both sides, but this isn't an input device I would personally worry about. Check out my upcoming video to see some really nutty, banned stuff.

I mean... sticks that wired select with other buttons for easier plinking were allowed? I never liked the idea of that and would put this in that same group even if it's only for one character.
@HushMySweet1
Жыл бұрын
In SF4, you could plink select with a jab and the former and it would be treated as a button with less priority (even though it didn't do any real game function). The other option was light kick but then you'd get a throw instead of a true plink. It wasn't feasible for most players because the select was in an odd spot with the aux functions, but you COULD move it nearer to your lights to get that to work. I think this antagonist is slightly more gray than that just because it changes inputs and doesn't rely on button placement. But I get ya.

any chance to have a tutorial on a jump boutton, please ?
@HushMySweet1
Жыл бұрын
Hi! You can use this same Antagonist button and then use the app to change the function to a jump. But, if all you want is a jump button on a normal joystick build, then you just need to wire a ground wire and another wire to the up function on the screw terminal block. Hope that helps!

@@HushMySweet1 thank you very much for the answer ! sorry but i know nothing about doing an arcade stick. I own a TE2+ and that s it. Could i mod it with an extra jump button and maybe then, an antagonist one ?
@HushMySweet1
Жыл бұрын
@@DeafSwitch Well, you can mod nearly anything, BUT ease of moddability in the stick itself and your own experience and comfort levels will go a long ways toward dictating what you can do. I don't have a TE2, but they use a metal panel to support the face art and such, yes? So you'll need to drill through that in an appropriate area (at the appropriate size) to get a button oriented there. That will likely be the easy part. Then, you'll need to examine the stock PCB and see how that will work with this. I don't know what they look like, so it may be a real chore or require some soldering. You can always gut what you have and install a new PCB which is more easily compatible, but then you're in it for more money and you will likely lose some of the stock aux functions, but IDK. I would ask for help on the buttercade (the maker of the Antagonist) discord server if you are committed to putting an Antagonist in that stick. Sorry I'm not more help, but I literally have zero experience with the TE2+. Good luck!

it's not really clear if this is tournament legal or not as of now. i would wait and see. what's holding you from using 2 antagonist boards and use each of them for sonicbooms and flashkicks?

According to the official rules of the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT), it is illegal. A quote from their website reads "The maximum amount of directional command input is four (4), and it is prohibited to put the same command into multiple buttons. For example, a player cannot assign the same directional command in two (2) different buttons." "When assigning a directional command to a button, instead of a Directional Button on DUALSHOCK, directional lever or analog stick, it is called a move button. A controller can have both move button and a lever at simultaneously, however, the controller must give up the corresponding input on the lever. For example, if a player assigns the upward action into a move button, such player must lose the upward input with lever."

This is correct. CPT events would not permit this fightstick mod.
@HushMySweet1
Жыл бұрын
It's illegal at CPT events, yes. But other events that don't follow those rules are fair game. I'm not a TO, but I wouldn't really care too much about this personally since it doesn't allow anything a Hitbox player couldn't do already. My .02. But! I actually hadn't considered using two of those to have both Flashkick and Boom setups, but that's not a bad idea (for a Guile player with a custom stick, anyway). I hope someone builds that and posts to r/fightsticks so I can check it out. Good thinking.

I can see where you're coming from since this device reverses an input, but I guess I'm more indifferent to this one because most people aren't going to beat me because they can throw a sonic boom 2 frames faster. I don't play Guile, but honestly wouldn't mind if my Guile opponents used it against me. I want EVO or one of these big tourneys to make an official ruling on this product, specifically. But yeah, definitely questionable for some, but in my mind, definitely not to the level of some of these macro devices we're starting to see pop up. Check out the Cheatbox vid on this channel if you haven't seen it to see what universally crosses the line. Thanks for watching!

Hey, if I have a crossup style stick, is it still possible to wire this in to an extra button? (not the crossup directionals)
@HushMySweet1
Жыл бұрын
Anything is possible. But! I don't know how involved that will be. You are referring to the branded CrossUp fightstick, yes? I don't have one to open up to look at how they have things inside. Depending on how they have things wired, it could be easy or hard. If you are speaking generally, like you just have a CrossUp-style custom stick, then you can easily wire this up as shown in the video. Then with the app, you can keep it as a jump function for certain characters and then switch it to one of the input reversal modes if you want to throw cleaner booms with Guile or something.

@@HushMySweet1 well basically im just trying to create a stick where the hitbox portion is on the left and the stick is on the right (southpaw) and i want to incorporate this in as well as some LED to get a really clean custom build. This is my first time building a stick so I'm doing a lot of research and my main worry is that I don't have enough room to add on all of this extra shit. Also, if you have any more cool tech like this you can recommend or a place I can find more like this I'm all ears. I want to create a very decked out fight stick and in the process learn a lot about building them.
@HushMySweet1

@@DickMongerlickball I see. So, you'll grab a PCB, the appropriate Brook model or something like the Pico Advanced Breakout Board with the GP2040-CE firmware. Both have the same footprint and you can utilize an over-the-counter 20-pin wiring harness, and then make use of the screw terminal block to wire up the rest of your movement functions. The Antagonist will install just as I showcased here in the video. If you want to run a cheap strand of LEDs like I did in that Rainbow Goblin fightstick build, you'll need to connect to the 5V which is also where you'll be stubbing in the power to the Antagonist. There are multiple ground locations on the screw terminal blocks, but you'll have to double-up on that 5V one. I say this because if you choose to get a Brook PCB and then install the PS5 daughterboard upgrade, that also needs connected to that same terminal slot. So I wouldn't use the daughterboard add-on. If you need PS5 compatibility, then grab one of the new Brook Fusion boards, and then there should be enough space for the two things (Antagonist and LEDs) to be hooked into the same one. Probably don't have an excessive length of LEDs though. If there is an issue with the power draw, cut out a few feet of segments and try again. As far as cool tech, check out Bit Bang Gaming. They have little player LEDs PCBs, the Shuriken so you can choose the best switches for your joystick PCB assembly, and an SOCD cleaner if you want to experiment with that. As far as other lever enhancements, there are Otto DIY kits on most of the big fightstick part wholesalers. Buttercade also offers titanium short shafts which I really like. There's also Sleepy's Arcade on etsy which make custom button inserts and More-Door Gaming who make custom balltops. A lot of these have been featured on this channel at one point or another, so start there. Good luck with the build!

@@HushMySweet1 Thank you so much for the advice man, your channel has been of really great use to me so far. @@DickMongerlickball Actually, yeah. There is a guy on the r/fightsticks discord who makes these little LED kits for GamerFinger buttons. His name is Daora and his kits ship from Germany, so you may have to wait. You would also likely only be able to use it on the eight 30 mm attack buttons. I'm not sure if he has 24 mm kits or not. Anyway, I'd start with him.
