Wow. I thought I had a lot of samples! What I like to do with mine is every new sample I get. I add it to an excel spreadsheet. That way if someone mentions a scent I’m curious about, I’ll search my spreadsheet to see if I have it. I can also put notes on how I feel about it etc. Yours would take forever to do 😅😅.

@KberlyJson - Wow what an excellent idea, keeping database recording of your perfume collection. May I ask what is your sample collection to the nearest 100😊

I loved seeing the vintage samples. The Bvlgari pour femme is a long discontinued beauty. Eternity was my signature scent and everyone else’s in high school. Sophia Grojsman was the queen of Godzilla florals back then. I’m here for a dedicated video on vintage scents.

Hi, I have a solution for the evaporation of homemade samples. As soon as I receive them, if the bottle is glass, I open the bottle, wrap the opening with a teflon tape (plumber’s tape) and tightly close it. Then I wrap the tape again after i close it. If its a plastic bottle, I wrap the tape outside only.

Arlene, Oh those homemade samples are challenging for me too! I love them because they represent the sharing spirit of the perfume hobby friends, but they evaporate despite our best efforts. Even the plumbers tape that I wrap around the sprayer threads and the parafilm on the outside can't stop the sands of time. I also experience this, unfortunately, with the decants I buy from subscriptions. Early in my perfume journey, I used to read a blog called NowSmellThis (it's still active), and I remember the main writer talking about her decants drying up. I was like, That can't happen very often, can it? It's a disappointing lesson if you've spent a lot on decants. When you mention certain perfumes, I remember where our preferences overlap! Yes, Prada La Femme Intense was a limited edition flanker. It's one of several La Femme flankers that I own full bottles of. The line is so elegant but approachable. I really want to make a video showing my collection too! I think it'd be a lot of fun (even if it only got 3 views 😆). 🤗❤

Ahh yes I've had the same experience with the plumbers tape...it does slow down evaporation but doesn't stop it completely. Ohh I'd love to see your collection!!

What are you doing with the samples? Keeping them for reference? Using them up? Don't they spoil at some point? So many questions! My ''collection'' is tiny, no more than 30 perfumes ( with samples combined) and some times it feels overwhelming to me😅

I keep them for reference for my channel mostly, but I also try using them up and giving them away as well. I find the homemade ones spoil/evaporate the quickest. Carded official samples sometimes do too, but it doesn't happen very often (and if it does, it's mostly with the plastic samples). Official carded glass samples rarely spoil from what I've noticed :)

Orto Parisi Alessandro Gualtieri scents grow stronger, too. Particularly Seminalis and Megamare. What a fascinating master perfumer, though! Nice collection 🤍

Nice stash ! I have a filing system for mine, like for documents. You can get divisors with tabs and put them in the containers, by brand and by alphabetical order. Right after the divisor/tab , I put in a paper where I write down which samples are in there, easier to read what's in there instead of checking one by one. Hope that helps you or someone else !

Samples and decants are great, but I feel anxious because they might ( and most do) evaporate or go bad. So I just try to use them up as fast as I can and avoid hoarding... Of course, being a perfume reviewer makes this a difficult task as you need to keep going back to them for reference.

I wish there was a way to better preserve perfume samples. It's such a waste when they go bad. Loved seeing your samples though. Oh and I just wore Bois D'armenie a couple days ago. So good! Guerlain is amazing. 😊

I have a ton also but I bought lab vial holders, put them in nice picture boxes, just bigger, and alpha organize the samples. I just have too many so some wind up thrown in a box. I have a large FB collection and actually feel better when I just buy samples rather than blind buy as I’ve been disappointed.

LOVING the collection videos, A. :) Honestly, and this is only my opinion, one cannot claim to be a perfume connoisseur without knowing the vintage scents. Nice to see your appreciation for them. :). That was the OG Tiffany, nothing like their offerings of today. Way too much for me but again, she's worth "meeting." "Tiffany was launched in 1987. The nose behind this fragrance is François Demachy. Top notes are Black Currant and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Taif Rose, Ylang-Ylang, African Orange Flower, Iris, Jasmine, Violet Leaf and Lily-of-the-Valley; base notes are Sandalwood, Vetiver, Amber and Vanille."

I probably have 80 samples which is nothing compared to yours. I have a couple boxes of the paper envelopes kind, a box of the box kind, and discovery sets in another box. All my larger decants are in lipstick tiered displays. But the smaller size decants are just hanging out here and there. What a mess. And worse is after the sample is gone I still don’t want to throw it away. (Unless it is ego stratus 🤢) The videos on your collection were great. I’d love to see your husbands as well . What I was surprised by was you saying your favorite perfumer was probably Jean Claude Ellena. I didn’t know him but I looked him up. Very intriguing man. Anyway I’d like to see you do videos of some more of your favorite perfume houses and/or noses.

I bet you could find something at a teacher or organizing store ? Like one of those things you hang on back of door with compartment pockets? And then you put like A-C , D-F? Labels on the little pockets ? The Virgo in me is showing 😅

I’m going to experiment with mine. I have a perfume that’s about 3/4 gone. It’s Lovely Sheer by SJP. I love it so much & have a back up but what’s left in my bottle I’m going to add 2 or 3 samples of Dior, the newest one with the gold neck. Who knows? LOL
