I decided not to buy this version Aaron reviewed after i smelled them side by side, the new version is stronger. Yeah, I thought the same too. Then, I wore it about ten times and realized this stuff is nuclear. I sold my bottle because Bisch's aroma chemicals come off too strong. One of the best-performing scents I've ever owned. The new bottles are supposed to be weaker or maybe it's a maceration thing. Give it a few wears and it may surprise you.

Aaron I have 2 recommendations from this house : - Divine Vanille (Same perfumer of Parfum de Marly Herod) - Fig infusion is also a nice fragrance, It is the same style as Gris Charnel but more fruity and green. Concerning the packaging Essential parfum explained their strategy on thier KZitem channel (the video is in french) : - The strategy is to offer affordable niche fragrances ( less than 100€ for 100ml) from french parfumers ( Quentin Bish, Nathalie Lorson, Antoine Maisondieu) and they prefer to have minimal packaging in order to invest the money in raw materials for the perfumers and give them full creative freedom.

If i have one critique about the way aaron reviews- so much time gets spent on the technical, when i dont feel like i really have any idea of what he think this scent actually smells like to him other than it being light, airy, and masculine. If i watched someone elses 8 minute review i think id walk away having some better idea of what the fragrance itself is and smells like, but as is i have to go look up other reviews because it could smell like pretty much anything based on that description- and usually a review is largely to give the viewer the effect of how the product compares to the projected idea of it- bc as fragheads all we have to work with are what the product might be like based on the stated notes we read on a screen and the perfume house waxing overly poetic in their descriptions of it- so unless someone actually gets the fragrance in hand and tells us how different the immediate experiential felt perception is compared to how its described by some listed notes and a poem, and they describe that well and in depth, it still feels very nebulous to the audience as to what that might smell like. Ofcourse you cant really know until you try something in person, but i appreciate when people try to get you as close as they can with articulating their experience of the smell. I like that Aaron tends to be more cerebral in his analysis, but at the same time like i said a fragrance is really about that illogical felt perception- so i wish he would use his cerebral nature to dissect that felt perception more instead of just being technical about formulations and aromachemicals
@EvWuzhere
24 күн бұрын
Also to reiterate, love Aaron and that his reviews feel dissective in a way that feels calming and scientific, im not saying that should shift. But reviewers are really the backbone of this community- because the two players are us as consumers, and fragrance houses we inherently dont trust unless theyve built up some goodwill- and even then we still recognize they are just trying to sell us an idea of something which may very well fall flat as an in person experience- so the reviewers end up being the great equalizers, especially these days a specific perfume getting popular has everything to do with word of mouth and others cosigning it. So in a review what i really want to know is how it smells. And It does help me to know this one smells smooth and like the ratio of raw materials is just right for it to be airy and project well, but i still have no idea what smells/raw materials themselves are actually projecting well, like what is that smell to you?

I think Bois Imperiale is phenomenal and I'm a fan of Quentin Bisch's work generally. I have a lot of his work, but particularly like Amouage Purpose. Ganymede and Encelade are also thoroughly excellent. He's also recently produced (working with other perfumers) The Key to My Success for Club De Nuit which is also very good, Although not in the same league as the others that I've mentioned, but good if you can get a deal on it. Interestingly, Bois Imperiale (along with the others) has an excellent life on me personally, it's well into 10 hours.

Man, of all the things that I've heard said online about Bois Imperial, it not being strong enough is NOT one I've heard before. IMO, both this and Ganymede are both freaking NUCLEAR, so much so that they are 2 of only maybe 3-5 frags in my collection that I spray less than 5-6 sprays of, specifically because they can be offensively strong if oversprayed.

Loved that review! Shows to me how different we all are. Especially when it comes to sillage of our skin. Bois imperial is easily in the top 5 strongest out of my 400 scents. Once half of my office complained about it being to strong. It doesn’t even wash out of my clothes with 60 degrees 😄 Looking forward to the comparison of Ganymede and Bois imperial. Essential Parfums is a really interesting brand. They only focus on the “essential” things of a perfume - the scent. That’s why their packaging (which is made out of recycled stuff) and bottle are kept so simple. On the other hand they have very good perfumers working for them: Olivier Pescheux (Devine Vanille) who did Herod PDM or One Million for example & Quentin Bisch. Fascinating and interesting content, Aaron 🦄
