We introduce the concept of CT perfusion with focus on the case of acute ischemic stroke imaging. First reviewing why CT is an excellent modality to determine if there is a hemorrhagic stroke and then if there was not a a hemorrhagic stroke the ischemic stroke severity can be quantified with perfusion imaging by making maps of the flow parameters including: mean transit time (MTT), cerebral blow volume (CBV), cerebral blood flow (CBF), time to peak (TTP), and the maximum time (Tmax). These parameters are determined by using a model such a deconvolution from the input CT frames.
