Why do you think the ancient Greeks had the goddess of spring as also the queen of the underworld?

Despite her modest beginnings, when Persephone was just associated - through her mother - to spring and/or vegetation, she eventually emerged as a rather powerful goddess, due to her unintended association with Hades. Thank you so much for your upload! BRAVA! P.S. It pleases me when you display the regional map of territory of Victoria, for it reminds me of my temporary assignment to Melbourne, several years ago...

Well, in some parte Persephone wasn't the goddess of spring, the goddess of spring was Eirene, one of the Horaes. Horaes was the daughthers of Zeus and Themis. Ovidio said in Methamorphosis was Zeus creates the seasons. In some roman arts the 4 Seasons are represented are sister and Persephone wasn't one of them

There can be no life without death. A tree won't grow without decay to feed it. The Goddess of Spring knew that better than anyone. She knew her mother's smothering nature would smother mankind through unsustainable life. She was devoted to Hades and to mankind, her husband and her children.

Persephone act's a balance between two realms: On earth, she and mother Demeter provide food for humanity. While, in turn, mankind offer libations to the gods. Yet, in the underworld, Persephone takes her queenship seriously alongside husband Hades. As the youngest immortal, she had no freedom; until, her abduction shifted the cycle of nature. Therefore, consuming six Pomegranate seeds, presented an option based upon "divine" law...

I was speaking to an archaeologist about the Eleusinian mysteries. I asked him if they really were lost. He firmly replied - The mysteries have never been lost. They are all around you. You just need to know how to look. Great video on Persephone 🥰

Ooh, that's a tricky one. I think in terms of Greek mythology, perhaps Athena. It's always good to be considered 'wise' and we love that she's a patron goddess of a city as great as Athens. 🙂
