This particular rose is named after david Austin seniors sister and I can think of no better word than darling to describe it
It forms a woody Twiggy and scrappy looking shrub during the winter it reaches around 4’ x 4’
The foliage is mid Green in colour and highly textured flowers open from Apple blossom pink buds tinged with apricot each with a burgundy stripe up the outer edges the flowers are loosely formed and contain the most adorable cabbage like centre eye which we are seeing coming through new varieties launched such as Emma Bridgewater
Opening Apple blossom pink and fading out to the most delicate of Whites as ages each bloom measuring around 3 1/2 to 4 inches in diameter they are produced freely from the beginning of June through to the end of August
The plant is virtually thornless making it absolutely perfect for cutting and bringing into the house however the blooms will shatter fairly quickly only lasting two or three days once cut
The fragrance is very distinctive seated well with the old roses it has distinctive notes of Palma Violets baby powder, and lilac
This is Not one of the most resilient varieties so make sure that you mulch this one well in the spring and pay Close attention to its watering during dry spells and give it a good liquid feed after its first flush of flowers
Fragrance rating 4⭐️s
