launched and introduced in 2009 and named to commemorate the 250th anniversary of poet Robbie Burns’s birth this rose was named after one of his famous poem characters
Heavily related to the species roses is tall upright and Woody producing a graceful mounding shrub around 4’ x 4’
Flowers are born on stiff upright stems with between five and 10 heads per stem they nob gracefully and are perfect for cutting and bringing into the house
Flowering freely between the beginning of June and mid September the colour is very similar to that of Princess Anne and combined with the growth habit of Sir Jon Benjamin this rose also enjoys great health and disease resistance
each flower opens from a tightly spiralled Budd deep cerise pink in colour to a large three-dimensional flower around 3 1/2 to 4 inches in diameter the petals slowly curling back to the flower stem as it opens fully. It takes on a wonderful silver grey platinum hue just before the petals drop.
The foliage is soft mid Green and also has a lovely smoky grey tinge to it. It has a relatively high thorn count and you will need debarb it before handling it I’m placing it into a floral arrangement
Hardy in zones 5-11 it really makes the most of its 25 count petals
The fragrance is light clean and fruity
This is perfect for growing in an elevated pot all raised container
Fragrance rating 3⭐️s
