One day, to test the focus and precision of his students, he decided to conduct a special examination.
Dronacharya placed a wooden bird on the branch of a tree. The bird had a distinct eye, and he instructed his students to aim at the eye of the bird. He then called upon his first student, Student 1.
Dronacharya asked Student 1, "What do you see?"
Student 1 replied, "I see the bird, the branch, the tree, and the sky."
Dronacharya, shaking his head, asked him to step aside. He then called upon the next student, Student 2.
When asked the same question, Student 2 responded, "I see the bird, the branch, and the tree."
Dronacharya again shook his head and asked Student 2 to step aside. He continued this process with several students, all of whom gave similar answers, seeing multiple elements in the scene before them.
Finally, it was Student 3's turn. Dronacharya asked him, "What do you see?"
Student 3 replied, "I see only the eye of the bird."
Dronacharya, pleased with this answer, then asked, "Describe the eye."
Student 3 said, "I can see nothing else but the eye of the bird."
Dronacharya smiled and allowed Student 3 to release his arrow. Student 3's arrow flew straight and true, hitting the eye of the wooden bird precisely.
This story demonstrates the power of unwavering focus and concentration on one's goals. Student 3's ability to block out all distractions and concentrate solely on the eye of the bird enabled him to succeed where others had failed. The lesson here is clear: to achieve one's goals, one must maintain a sharp and undivided focus, avoiding distractions and keeping the target in sight at all times.
