Episode 4. Tamala Limestone Eolianite covers the entire Indian Ocean coastline of Western Australia including at Two Rocks, 50km North of the Perth CBD, and on the banks of the Swan River at Dalkeith, and may owe its existence to ancient Indian Ocean tsunamis.
The origin of Tamala Limestone rock is said to be aeolian or wind blown in nature. Eolianite or aeolianite is any rock formed by the lithification of sediment deposited by aeolian processes. Sand particles were blown into the region during long deep ice ages over millennia, and were consolidated and lithified into a solid rock by the percolation of water. Tamala Limestone is the geological name given to these widely occurring West Australian eolianite limestone deposits. The rock consists of calcarenite wind-blown shell fragments and quartz sand which accumulated as coastal sand dunes during the middle and late Pleistocene and early Holocene eras.
Evidence of what is being called a Mega Tsunami is found all along the coast of Western Australia.
We scientifically study the eolianite Tamala Limestone deposits and geology and geography at Two Rocks, Dalkeith, Rottnest Island, Cottesloe, as well as the caves of Leeuwin and Boranup in the south west Cape to Cape region.
