Hear ye riz-pain-sel(1), demi-solde(2) and jaunes-gilets(3), lend me an ear to hear this battle, unparalleled. The king looking at his soldiers, praised the gods for what he saw there. So many daredevils, and hotheads The boldest of its host, mounted on motorized couriers Wheeling(4), brandishing many pennants with Celtic crosses Among the French people there was a great desire to break up the [censored] To take revenge on the destourbiers(5) and receive the present time. And there had big word, and reproached many felonies Between Messire De Valfunde, and Abdallah de Sarcelles. The battle began, at vespers there was a great froissis(6) and a great boutis(7) And gave and received many horions(8) of tonfas, baseball bats and other war sticks And we have charged the enemies of our land By filling the sky with various projectiles And we walked proudly among the shards Singing songs under the murderous mottos To murderous mottos Then they threw fire and big bolt to break up everything. (1) riz-pain-sel: Literally "rice-bread-salt" is a military intendant in charge of distributing food to the troops (2) demi-solde: Literaly "half-pay" is an officer of the first French Empire, put on non-active status by the Restoration. The name comes from the fact that, being no longer actively employed, the pay is then reduced by half. (3) jaunes-gilets: Protesters of the "yellow vests" movement, word reversed to resemble the two previous old terms: "riz-pain-sel" and "demi-solde". (4) An acrobatic figure on a bicycle or motorcycle that consists of lifting the front wheel, I don't know how to translate. In addition, the verb "taper" which means "to hit" which simply means "to do" here but in a vulgar register. (5) destourbiers: Old french, it means trouble, disturbance, impediment, embarrassment, obstacle. Here it refers to people (I think politicians who prevent us from living properly but I could be wrong). (6) froissis: Old french for noise made by crumpling elements. (7) boutis: From the old verb "Bouter" meaning "to push out" (mainly from a military point of view) (8) horion: Old french for a violent blow I did my best to translate without losing too much of the original message, it's very difficult because there are many old french expressions and slang. The text also includes modern informal expressions such as to make the link between the events of the yellow vests and the "Crusades of the pastoureaux" which were also two popular insurrections in France in 1251 and 1320. Pastoureaux, also old french, meaning small shepherds. fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croisade_des_pastoureaux_de_1251 fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croisade_des_pastoureaux_de_1320 This makes it a very good introduction to the album "Le retour des pastoureaux" : "The return of the pastoureaux".

I think "carreaux" in the last line refers to "carreau d'arbalète" (= "bolt" in English) rather than "tiles", taking into account Peste Noire's recurrent mention of crossbows in their iconography and past songs (such as "Casse, pêche, fractures et traditions").

Can someone who speaks native french explain why there are censored parts? Is there a fear KZitem will take it down or something more like the government over there getting mad

I wanna know this too, is it like that in the actual release, because I hate it. Maybe it's part of the narrative of the song or whatever, but I don't parlez francais so I dunno.

@@snoweh1 just asked, it does not have the bleeps and censors so that's good. It's just the KZitem upload so I'm assuming he is saying some politically incorrect stuff that KZitem might not like.

So what is Sarcelles? Is it some special place?

It’s a place in the Parisian suburb, with a lot of low-income denizens, where you can often find immigrants (like the Abdalah from the song) or very low-income (a lots of these tower are state-sponsored habitation for people who can’t afford anything else).
