I wish there were pet ambulances. I would have to try CPR, then if my dog doesn’t respond, stop the CPR and get into the car and drive to the vet which is half an hour away. I think better to just keep doing CPR until dog starts breathing again if there’s no one with you to help bring the dog to the vet

And you want to keep their head in alignment with their spine... so get down on their level. Also don’t over inflate their lungs. Check their mouth first to see if something needs to be taken out or you may blow it back down. It’s about 6-7 rounds of compression to breath ratio. Clap, stomp, and holler just in case a (usually) nice old dog is taking a nap. Don’t want him jumping up and grabbing you! 😂 More things to consider... but this gives a bit more info. Thank you 😊

This happened to us. Our 7-year-old lab was swimming when I saw him laying at the bottom of the pool. I jumped in and pulled him out of the water. I began chest compressions (should lay the dog on their side for compressions), Clamped his mouth shut and blew down his nose. Continued with CPR , picked him up, and placed him in my Suburban. I continued CPR and compressions for about 10 minutes driving to the emergency vet clinic. I felt some back pressure from his lungs, he vomited water, grass, and food. I saw his eyes return to normal, his tongue retracted into his mouth and he started breathing. We pulled into the ER vet clinic and he was trying to stand up. The vet staff came out and grabbed him and checked him into the clinic. He had water in his lungs and was a bit confused. He stayed 1 night at the vet. Gave him some medicine and he was good as new. We were in the local newspaper and the local news. Our story was picked up by CNN and we were on Larry King Live the next month. Sam lived 7 more swimmin' in the pool years!! He was a great dog. Be careful around the water, and keep an eye on kids and pets. Dog CPR is pretty easy if you know what to do. Great information

Thank you and she's such a good model she's like daaaad what you doing oh resting your head ok 😂 but for real thank you I have my little shih tzu she is brachecephalic and it's always good to know how to know in case if i ever need god forbid to administer it or in another dog. It's basic things everyone should know and as a heathcare assistant I know how to administer CPR in human beings but it is good to know how to do it in animals as I wouldn't know what position for them to be, how deep and how fast. one of the songs I like is how to save a life by the fray same tempo as the bg's stayin alive...ironic isn't it? i think you should have them lay on the left as you demoed as it's closer to the heart correct? also how deep is 1inch in cm well it states 1.27cm but that's hard to tell when you're doing it in practical aspects and what is 1 and half cm like rounded up or how can i tell how deep I'm going as the depthness is very different than for humans which is typically 5cm deep for adult CPR at least. thanks and keep up the great work. much love, mila

Hi Andrew. Can you please do a video on stomatitis? My dog had gotten her teeth cleaned approximately every 11 months but after this last cleaning she ended up with an infection in her mouth and she didn't stop eating until the end when it was too late. Please share the importance of having your pet be prescribed antibiotics after a teeth cleaning to prevent this and let them know how important it is when the vet says they need their teeth clean more often. I lost my Chloe girl due to stomatitis. She was an older dog and I noticed her laying in odd places but I thought she was just getting older oh, boy I was wrong. She had her teeth cleaned in February and her breath started to stink only a month later. I didn't worry about it because I just had her teeth cleaned and figured maybe she just has a bad breath. But the last week she was alive I looked inside her upper lip where her canines are and noticed these blisters right where the canines lay. I immediately called my vet and ask for antibiotics that very same day I started her on them that was a Tuesday and by Thursday she stopped eating and I could tell she was suffering I even think she had a stroke or seizure due to the infection because she started to Flinch at every noise or movement. Sadly to say I put her down on Friday. Oh she was a love of my life and now she is gone and I am lonely and devastated. So please do a video on how serious stomatitis can be. Do it in memory of my Chloe girl please. Thank you Doctor Jones😘

hi. what do you recommend to do for cats in case of a heart attack? my elder has heart issues and i dont wanna be desperate if it ever happens. also recently he had some kind of very short seizures, like he lost the control of his body and body got into weird shapes. its difficult to describe. edit : please dont think i didnt take him to the vet. i did, and he changed the medicines to make the blood thinner. but he has no idea about the seizures so i need another opinion.
