A lovely relaxing video to end my Saturday. Becky, that cat is *STUNNING* . Soo beautiful. When I was youger, I seriously couldn't cope with cats, but we had a dog as a pet. He wasn't a good pet, but I've always loved dogs, and dogs know it, coming up to me with great confidence, much to some of their human's amazement. One couple got really worried when their smallish dog briskly came right up to me, tail curling over his back, tongue hanging out, as apparently usually, he was really aggressive. That dog and I had a lovely few minutes together before they had to move on. Those interludes with animals and children are very, very special to me!!! My habit with animals and chlildren is to stand still , hands by my side, (a smile for the children) and a gently "Hello." as they approach, and just keeping relaxed, even when the animal looks a little / a lot aggressive, and though I've had some rapid heartbeat moments, so far, it's always worked. A silver-tip reef shark swam close to me one time. I was in shallow water, very still, as I'd been fish watching by a large-ish coral teeming with a fish nursery, small children of the bigger fish on the reef further out. That was a joyous encounter - I was thrilled to bits to see such a beautiful creature so close!!! It took no notice of me, but just swam quietly passed. When I married, my husband, who'd never had a pet, wanted a cat, but I'd told him how I felt (couldn't cope!). He dropped the subject, but a little while later, I brought home a little brown bundle of fur, and so our cat dynasty of five evolved over 30 years (the single, then when he was killed, two, then as in time, each of those died, we got another to keep the lonely one company). The last one died just before I left my husband. My cat-loving husband turned out not to be unduly bothered about their care, and very soon, each in turn became far more 'my' cats - not just cupboard love because i fed and cared for them but because we, the cats and I, simply enjoyed each other's company. I was in shallow water, face down,, one hand on the bottom to steady me, keeping very still, as I was fish watching by a large-ish coral teeming with a fish nursery, small children of the bigger fish on the reef further out. That was a joyous encounter - I was thrilled to bits to see such a beautiful creature so close!!! It took no notice of me, but just swam quietly passed. I'm guessing you're heading to warmer, Northern climes for your road trip? I don't remember seeing colouring books or (even more surprising) any coloured pencils in your art bags video, though. Just a lot of markers. Did I miss them? Anyway, bon voyage, Becky and Nick!!! 🤗 Safe journeying, and happy times vibes waftng your way, wherever that is!

@@MrsBarnabas I like dogs too, but haven't really had a lot of experience with them (caring for them etc). We just end up with cats that think they're dogs! 🤣 We're heading west this time, hopefully all the way to Perth! It's an ambitious road trip, and we did our first main day of driving, to Adelaide. I actually didn't pack a colouring book! I nearly did but decided I was overloaded already, and then I'd want pencils etc....the car is so full it's ridiculous! 🫣

@@BeckyTregear _".the car is so full it's ridiculous!"_ Maybe for a standard week or two, but for a full month, I fully get why you're taking so much!!! And if you do miss the colouring, I guess there'll be places en route where you'll find something. I've just looked at Google maps (and discovered that for some reason in my mind, I'd put Adelaide _ East_ of Melbourne - no idea why, as I at least know where all the main Australian cities are - normally, anyway). That's a looong way!!! The map says 3,421 kilometres! The furthest south I've travelled, and by air, is 1,666 km, East, 8,141.55 km, and the furthest west, 6057 kms, but all by air. I can't quite imagine 3,421 kilometres by road. It's funny to think that if things had turned out differently when I was seventeen, I might have been living "Somewhere" in Australia via a £10 ship ticket, at a time when Australia was begging for qualified nurses. I'd had an Aussie penfriend for several years, but the idea to move was fairly short-lived. By the time I'd done my first year of training, I knew for sure that the destination was to be France. 🙂

I love some of the art in the Amazon printed books, but I wish the paper was better. It is terrible for markers. Not the bleed through you mentioned, but it also bleeds on the page and it will go across all your lines so it's hard to get detail and you have to try and avoid edges. If you colour a larger area and need to circle back to a spot to finish the colour, they will not blend and the original part will look darker and it will be streaky. You actually have to then use pencil over the top to fix and smooth out. I kind of imagine the paper itself is absorbing a lot more ink than a nicer paper, which will kill the markers really quickly too. I've bought and colour a few of the Amazon books and won't buy them anymore for those reasons. I do still use markers, but I'm frustrated by the the issues. I've never actually been to the FTG library, but in early 2020 before covid, I started a weekly bike ride and I would finish at the park and ovals there (10k from home). I remember the very last time I did it, and I arrived and the Knox festival was on. It was a surprise to me and such a lovely morning. It was beautiful. That day everything changed. It was 1st March 2020 and I never did the ride again as that month changed our lives. I actually haven't used my bike at all since.
