i share the same sentiments with Dr. Lee. The reason i wanted to be a vet is for wildlife conservation; in safaris, Africa (or zoos). Currently I'm still in my 2nd year of vet school and because of the pandemic I have been in online classes since my 1st year. I am pretty sure I wanna go to wild animal practice but i still have many years to go, i will just see what resonates to me well.

Best of luck! I want to do wildlife too but it's so competitive and there isn't much money in wildlife vet as all (mostly volunteer work).

I think that cloning a pet is a bit selfish, it only satisfies the need to have something eternal even though nothing is eternal. Death, even if it hurts, is part of life. It's my way of thinking
@ezeanichidera4875

Well even the owners are not eternal they will die one day i think they really love and adore their pet and will only want to have a piece of him when he is no more. Some people actually consider their pets as family

There are so many abandoned and run away, homeless dogs that need homes and furever families I don't think cloning is a option. It will not have the same personality as the first dog but will look like the first dog. I think it's ridiculous to clone. I'd love for my Chihuahua to live as long as me but that's not realistic so I'll get another emotional support animal to bond with.

There are so many children in the world but people insist on having their own child. The concept is similar. Why some people may think its selfish and would rather adopt, other people just cant help the way they feel and have the ability to do what they want 🤷♀️

If money wasn't an issue, would cloning be an option to consider, or would your answer stay the same? If i could pay for it, i would seriously consider cloning that pug you see in my pic. She is life to me. The day she dies i'll want to die to be with her. But cloning means she still lives, and therefore i still live.

@@vilyar122 since cloning only affects looks, you could pretty much just get another pure bred pug though. It isn’t her. Just her looks. I personally would not. No matter how much I miss my heart dog who passed a year ago, she is at rest now.

@@kellyi1608 you’re comparing “breeding and adopting” where as the commenter is comparing “cloning and adopting”. Those are not comparable. Breeding is producing something new. Cloning is not.

what can we do to help

Speaking of brachicephalic pet owners who may not be aware: If your flat faced pet stops walking during walks, and refuses to continue walking, it is NOT LAZY. Do NOT force them to continue. They are stopping because they are not getting enough oxygen. If you continue to force your pet to keep moving, or do certain excercises, over time, it can lead to stroke.

2023: cost of cloning has gone down, but still hefty. Approx $30K.
