In a way, the cause has been rolling for years, despite two or three large organisations trying desperately to stop it. It seem an age ago when I first read about it in _Private Eye_. When we got the acquittals, it was easier to see who was right and join the cause. But no compensation. Then the public inquiry. Criticism, but the Government continues to support the well-paid lawyers contesting every claim. Now the drama, but the Government still doesn't know how to handle a situation compassionately, honestly and rationally. This is a kakistocracy.

If intelligent scriptwriters were involved, a political satire could respond to individuals trying to do something constructive about problems like the climate crisis and discrimination but in an idiosyncratic and institutionalised way. Culture wars, an dismissing the problems as 'tosh', could be satirised, but maybe it's difficult because the line you get from the Telegraph or Mail is so one-dimensional.
