I can't hear this song without thinking of the tea ritual from Karate Kid 2 (of course, this was the movie's theme song). I had such a massive crush on Kumiko after that flick. Anyway, looking back on this song some 33 years later, I'm reminded of how back in the '80s songwriters weren't afraid to go full-bore sentimental with their lyrics, as Cetera does here. The song still sounds great and it always impressed me how strong Cetera's voice is despite having basically zero vibrato. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves as a songwriter either, having racked up steady hits both as a solo artist and as lead singer of Chicago. A great pop artist, and this, to me, is one of his best songs. Glad you two enjoyed it. :)

A true band, David Foster knows how to make song progress and build pulling in. Peter is a master in how he cuts some lyrics then slightly raising a octave on the bridge, just magical.

This is one of Cetera's most famous songs as a solo artist, but he has better ones on his album "World Falling Down".

This song was offered to Sylvester Stallone for Rocky 4, he declined the song because it didn't fit in with the Russian themed movie.
