Great interview! as a local stagehand in Connecticut, I assisted Ed on the Zappa Plays Zappa tour putting together Terry Bozio's drum kit, then he came up to me 2 years later just to say hi when he was working on the ZZ Top tour......he didn't need any assistance with that kit but we chatted for a little bit. Ed is a great guy!

Uh, Mike-- You think Peter's playing at almost 70 would be bad? Have you heard Paul's voice lately? He's the next member that needs to be replaced. Gene's voice, to his credit, is still quite good.

I am from Germany and been a fan since 1979. I saw all line ups of the band live except w Vinnie. There´s only one permanent constant in KISS from the beginning till now, and that´s PAUL STANLEY. I have already Tickets for this years´s shows in Stockholm, Helsinki, Berlin and Prague. YOU GUYS do a really good job, I saw all of your podcasts referring to KISS...very informative and interesting...wish you all the best!

I'm a Peter fan, but I appreciate Eric Singer as well. This will undoubtedly sound like a defense of Peter, but it's more of an objective comment/response: Even now with Eric, the live tempos are slower than they were in the 70s. Tempos may be slowed for reasons besides limitations of a drummer--it may be to benefit the limitations of a singer who struggles at a faster tempo. I actually don't mind tempos akin to studio versions, if it suits the band's overall comfort and ability to carry a song.

Remember, Paul and Gene felt as if they were doing Peter and Ace a favor by doing the reunion. Peter and Ace had a tough time out there as solo artists by 1995 they toured together as the Bad Boys Of Kiss and they were lucky to sell 300 tickets. That's why Peter and Ace were so desperate to sign the dotted line when it was offered, and how Paul and Gene succeeded at taking all the pie once they did. Welcome to show business, kids.

Once again, great interview. I've heavily enjoyed this two part series with Ed Kanon. I think you guys covered this in another episode briefly, but did Ace seem like he was going to do the Symphony and then backed out? I thought they both got offered to come back and the deal needed at least 3 original members. I was shocked Eric Singer didn't do the Symphony and Aerosmith Tour. I was actually pissed off back then that it wasn't Eric Singer and Ace in the band.

I was at one of those last shows with all 4 originals: Devore, California and Peter had the teardrop on there as well. My first and last KISS show. I remember that I was blown away by the show itself, and some of the songs were good, but some were....ehhhhh, okay. I had my FD badge pinned to the front of my sweatshirt, so I was walking anywhere (other than backstage) that I wanted to go, including the roped off section right in front of the stage and security was just letting me go wherever I chose, lol. I'm also a drummer, and wasn't overly impressed with Peter's playing

Very interesting...I especially liked Ed Kanon's comments about working with Peter on drumming techniques, and how Peter responded once he began to see results...on another note, it's worth noting that shows I saw last summer, co-headlining with MC, there were an obvious number of empty seats in spite of the double headline so it will be interesting to see their approach to the next tour. I've really enjoyed these vids. The thing I have really come to discover since the re=break=up of the original 4 is that I have had to deconstrct the myth that I grew up buying. KISS, unlike other bands, never seemed to be 4 guys playing music. I bought in BIG to the larger-than-life super hero thing. That being said, the curtain has been pulled away. I still hold on to the KISS with which I grew up, but I think it's more for the memories of the fantasy.

I will never understand the hate people have toward Paul and Gene over Peter not being in the band. If Peter wanted to be in KISS he had several chances to rejoin. Peter's biggest problem is he thinks he is as important to KISS as Paul, Gene are or even Ace. Fact is he wrote one decent tune that had to be reworked (by Gene and Ezrin) and threatened to quit if Paul didn't write songs for him or hire the producer he wanted. Listen to any interview with Peter , he's nothing but a complainer.

Kiss are driven visually The Who not so much. I would prefer if Paul and Gene created new characters for Tommy and Eric and I think Tommy and Eric would too. But I don't think Paul and Gene are willing to gamble with the look at the late stage in the game. I think the rejection of Vinnie's character scared them. Anyone who doesn't know that Peter and Ace are not up on that stage probably don't care anyway. As far as merchandise, that's a side of Kiss I really don't care about personally.

Yep, KISS can't use their proper names now just the characters. The point is? Thanks for the Great interview Mike!!! Great to hear from people in the back line like Ed and Know that people act the way they do!! I love the Original Kiss but still Appreciate the other versions of Kiss. Those Four Original guys had Magic, but they All had Ego's and that's what ended up killing that version of the band Ego's and drugs and Booze. I still love Ace and Peter; but Ace plays sloppy and he always did. Peter is a Whiner, he was from the beginning and was at the end. That's who they are nobody can change that but each individual themselves. When the Original KISS got back together; Ace and Especially Peter wanted their Spot back, their 25% of KISS like Acouin had it set up in the beginning. Gene and Paul didn't want it that way and they Own KISS themselves lock stock and barrel it's that simple. Peter left KISS continued; Ace left KISS continued. Paul and Gene took the chance of continuing KISS without the others and they paid the price for it, sometimes good and sometimes bad; but they were the one's out there touring and keeping KISS' name relevant in Music. I have All the books by the Members and to me I see them and the KISS world according to Gene, According to Ace, To Peter and then to Paul. I don't think Any of them are the True truth just each Members Version of it. Kiss and Sell and Sealed With a Kiss have more truth in them and Neither of those books really bash Anyone and they sure could have if they wanted to do it. That's My take on KISS Chris J.
