He could have gone the voice route, I'm glad he didn't, I think he has real stage presence. I say this as a person who can't stand tons of mainstream actors (most can't act), he really is a generational talent, its nice that he's gotten some good roles (in contrast with what little people used to get, which capitalized on them being small and tended to be degrading).

You don't necessarily need to see the previous movies or read the Hunger Games trilogy, but it enhances the experience tenfold if you know what's coming down the road. There are nuances here that are easy to miss and a ton of context that is fairly important. I have seen The Ballad twice now and I can honestly say they did the book justice. It's a fantastic adaptation that remains as true to the source material as possible, which is rare these days ❤️

The difference is that the songbirds represent the good influences in Snow's life, like Lucy Gray and the Plinth family, while the snakes represent the evil influences, like Dr Gaul and Dean Highbottom. So yes, he is a snake.

I'd say Dean Highbottom tried to be a good influence since having created the hunger games. He tries to put Snow on a milder path, warns him not to give in to his impulses to cheat and follow in his father's footsteps, wants the games to die out.

@drunkvegangal8089 All of those series are fantastic! Trendy doesn't mean bad. They are all popular for very good reason. GOT ran for 8 seasons. He was nominated every year and is many viewers' favorite character. I'm not typically into that genre, but I was obsessed. Good is good. 🤷♀️

Honestly even if this is the first film people watch I can see the merit to having seen this one and then seeing the others if you're totally new to the franchise. Nothing wrong with only watching this one, but part of me wants to forget everything for a bit so I can watch this one then the others just to see what it'd be like.
