Peter is actually a really nice bloke but he had to retire due to issues with his lower spine. Most people only remember him for this famous break of 12 which took him 5 minutes 9 seconds. It was against Ronnie O Sullivan in the 2005 world championship. He is actually a former world champion and i hope he can put that break of 12 out of his mind and move on with his life. That break of 12 will haunt him for the rest of his life - It was that break of 12 that gave him a painful spinal injury as he feathered the cue ball 10 - 12 times on each shot before striking it thereby spending huge amounts of time with his head down on the each shot before striking it. Remember that he was forced to retire due to issues with his lower spine. That 12 break is what caused a serious SPINAL BREAK in his lower body. It was very beautiful to watch the injury happen to him in realtime. Thanks for all the really fast, exciting snooker Peter and i wish you the best of luck mate. AND REMEMBER PEOPLE - ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS FAST AND TOTALLY AMAZING BREAK OF 12!

I'll accept the fact that Ebdon is playing slowly as a tactic to throw O'Sullivan off his game. However, the fault lies as much with the referee, who has the right to ask a player to move on with things. It's a little bit like in the last 10/15 minutes of a football match, when the goalkeeper takes forever over a goal-kick, and the referee just allows it. In football the yellow card should come out, and in snooker the referee should be having a quiet word.
@collinslfc
7 жыл бұрын
There's time wasting rules in football, there aren't time wasting rules in snooker. There is nothing the ref can do as Ebdon is within his rights to take as long as he wants too. I'm by no means defending Ebdon as I think what he is doing is bad sportsmanship, but he's not breaking any laws of the game.

Unless it's event specific there is no formal rule which says how long you must take per shot. However, that doesn't mean you're not going to get mocked and bashed by other players, pundits and onlookers. I'm normally a quick player, but even I once encountered a shot which took 6 mins to play,. In my situation being faced with a difficult high pressure shot in a final ball black situation. Meant my opponent and onlookers had no issue with me putting considerable thought into the shot I was going to play.
