Peter Lee is a wild dog controller with the Victorian Department of Primary Industries in Bairnsdale. In this video, Peter explains and demonstrates how to set a flat or basic trap for wild dog control in and around the Gippsland region.
Wild dogs prey on livestock such as sheep, cattle and goats, in some cases to such an extent that they can threaten the economic viability of properties. Wild dogs prey on a variety of animals including mammals, birds and reptiles of all sizes from insects to water buffalo. They have been implicated in the decline of several species, both historically and in the recent past.
