I listen to them and it makes me feel that we still have some hope in this world. Not much but still a little.

I love Peter Paul and Mary! My huge, huge favorite song my whole life is Puff, The Magic Dragon by that folk music band from the 50s/60s!

As much as I love PP&M, don't forget their great bass player, Dick Kniss, in the background. Dick, who died in 2012, was self taught. He played with PP&M for half a century & co-wrote many songs. I once heard Peter Yarrow say the group could have been called Peter, Paul, Mary & Dick. Dick was in John Denver's 1970s band and co-wrote "Sunshine on my shoulders". Another great musician in this video is Paul "Presto" Prestopino who backs PP&M on banjo, guitar, dobro, mandolin etc. Paul Prestopino has played with all the greats, including John Denver, generally wearing designer farm overalls in bright colours. As far as I know, Presto is still going strong.

A few months later, I saw Peter Yarrow in concert and he had all the kids come up on stage and I was 8 at the time and we all sang “Puff The Magic Dragon”

I used to see them in concert every summer when I was little. I still love their music. This video brings back memories. Old ones. But still there.

Wow , just wow ! This concert was only ten years before Mary died . It warmed my heart to see her dancing with the campers , counselors , and staff during This Land Is Your Land ! You have no idea how unbelievably and incredibly lucky you were to have had Peter , Paul , and Mary come to your summer camp and perform live in concert ! I always wanted to see PP&M live , but sadly never got the opportunity before Mary passed away in the fall of 2009. At least my childhood dream of singing along with Peter , Paul , and Mary live and in person will hopefully finally partly come true on Saturday , March 25, 2017 as I will be seeing Noel Paul Stookey live in concert at the Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley , California , albeit without Mary and Peter . But Camp Westwind truly got the experience and thrill of a lifetime getting to join in with three of the kindest souls in our sadly now broken world . I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like to be at that concert with all of those children , teens , and adults ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this very rare archival footage and never before publicly seen Peter , Paul , and Mary concert , as a lifelong diehard PP&M fan , you have no idea how much it means to me ! I just have two requests- 1:If you're reading this , could you please respond with anything else you might remember from that incredible day , if you got to meet Peter , Paul , and Mary after the show , what the concert was like , anything you might remember from that day at all , I know it was 17 going on 18 years ago , but I would really appreciate anything you might remember at all about that once in a lifetime experience you had with PP&M. 2: Please, NEVER EVER take down this special video , it must remain until the end of time as a special reminder of the past and as an inspiration to today and tomorrow 's children to help heal our broken world , so they and their children and their children's children will live in peace and hopefully we shall overcome someday !

Thank you for the lovely comment, Alonzo! I'm so glad that people have enjoyed seeing this video, and that technology is giving us a chance to share memories like these. What I remember--one of our campers won a contest (I believe it was an essay contest in conjunction with the Around the Campfire release) and the prize was to have PP&M sing at her camp. It was my first year on staff (I was all of 15!) and I remember the excitement from all the kids and counselors. All week we sang PP&M favorites and taught them to the kids who weren't familiar with the songs. Before and after the concert, Peter and Noel wandered around the camp and talked to the kids. I worked in the barn with the horses, but that day I was helping with kitchen and dish duties so the kids assigned that chore could go play. I remember Noel and Peter stopping by as two of us were sweeping up the lodge, and they spoke with us for a few minutes, and told us we had beautiful, shining souls. I'll never forget that moment! I don't intend to take the video down, so as long as youtube doesn't have a problem with it being here, it will stay. Thank you again!

Thanks so much for your response Judo! I loved PP&M's Around the Campfire album and what a lucky girl she was to win that essay contest and to have PP&M sing at her camp ! Sounds like you all had an unforgettable experience ! I'm so glad the trio was as warm offstage as they were onstage ! What was Mary like? And thanks again for keeping the video up ! I highly look forward to seeing Noel in Berkeley for the first time ever on March 25!

Can one of you add some context to “… what a lucky girl she was to win that essay contest and to have PP&M sing at her camp!”? This is almost mind blowing to me that PP&M, who I have loved since the early’60s, would perform an outdoor concert like this at a kids camp. I’m sure glad that I stumbled upon this video today. Thanks for posting.

@@ByronTrist I would also redirect you to the 1993 Peter, Paul, and Mary PBS Concert Special Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too, which is now available on DVD. It is a PP&M concert designed solely for children and their families and at 5 years old, it was my introduction to The Trio as they sang with children from my generation, the millenials generation ! Most boomer PP&M fans know about their political and social justice contributions in the 1960s and 1970s, and rightfully so. However, VERY FEW Baby Boomer Peter, Paul, and Mary fans even know about The Trio's contributions to kids music in the 1980s, 1990s, and beyond !

This 1999 concert was before Peter's handmade 1973 Larrivee guitar went missing in December 2000. However, after it had been missing for about 5 years, fans noticed it for sale on Ebay. The FBI made themselves useful & Peter got his favourite guitar back. I notice that Peter's guitar is showing a bit of wear above the soundhole but it still has a long way to go before it falls to pieces like Willie Nelson's "Trigger" Peter never named his Larivee guitar like Paul who even wrote a great song about his famous 12 string "Sebastian" .
