Thiel at 35:22: "People have often described the Woke thing as a kind of religion... I think of it as actually a specific form of Christianity, or maybe a Christian heresy ... It can only happen in a very Christian society. "You know, if [society loses] faith in Christ and the resurrection of Christ, in theory, everything goes. I mean, you can become a Nietzschean Superman, you can become a relativistic person who just plays video games in a basement... Ayn Rand, all these things. "But in practice... the overwhelming tendency seems to be toward something like politically correct Wokeness, hyper-Christianity, communism, different things like this. "I would suggest there's nothing that new about it. I think it was the Social Gospel in the early 20th century. It was communism in the 19th century. Maybe Marcion in the 2nd century. "And what animated these things was always some idea like: we were going to be more Christian than the Christians... "The move Marx and Engels and Tolstoy made in the 19th century was: the Christians aren't doing enough for the poor, and we're going to do even more. We're going to have Heaven on earth. And we're going to kill millions of people to show how serious we are. "There's something about the Judeo-Christian tradition in history where it always takes the side of the victim... "It's harder to be Woke in Saudi Arabia... Maybe Japan is the developed country that's the least Christian. It's hard to be woke in Japan or Saudi Arabia, where you haven't been influenced by these ideas for centuries to the same intensity."

Mr. Solomun, wondering if you find Peter Thiel’s perspective on entertainment and modernity in line with the perspective that Orthodox Christian Icon carver, Jonathan Pageau expresses? I ask because I find it hilarious that all of knowledge in our present day has lead us back to the beginning in such a way that an orthodox Christian Icon carver can be at the same level of understanding about human consciousness as John Vervaeke and Peter Thiel. My attention was in Austrian economics since Ron Paul days, then to Jordan Peterson who pointed my attention to the maps of meaning, which added an new ability in my mind. The ability to see hierarchy as a deeply part of our consciousness. That then lead me to the symbolic world where Jonathan Pageau is speaking from. He brought my attention to Plato’s explanation of the Logos. Then to the church fathers like St. Maximus. Just two days ago I came across Peter Thiel, who is saying exactly the same thing that Jonathan Pageau is saying, with a more formal approach (meaning more scholarly or something by like that).

48:40 I love what Peter says here about this modern day obsession with focusing inward. So much of our culture now in media, especially music, teaches us that self-love and putting yourself first is the path to happiness but this is the literal antithesis of what the bible and Christianity teaches. The bible teaches putting others before oneself and self sacrifice, and I'm guessing the reason there is so much anxiety and depression today is because people spend so much time focusing on what's good or best for themselves. I think the best path out of depression and suicide for a lot of people is to completely lose themselves in doing good for the benefit of others.

focusing inward probably has more self loathing than self love, it is wrong to associate the two. Self love is borne out of the postmodern moral relativism, where anything I do goes, coupled with US capitalism, its just great, you have a whole bunch of selfish pricks feeling good about themselves, as long as they spout the right phrases.
@vroomm728
2 жыл бұрын
this is the limitation of semantics. looking inward can mean a preoccupation on the chatter of the mind, ego, and illusion. If the individual does not have a level of self awareness and understanding beyond his own limiting thoughts/beliefs, the inward view will reflect that. However, if one has experienced Christ consciousness, and understands that I am in you as He is in Me, that I am the true vine and you are the branch, to love one another as I have loved you, that the curtain separating the Holy of Holies and the outer temple has been torn , then inward is synonymous w helping others.

Continuing American freedom is going back to the basics and getting the basics straight. You hear over and over that we're Judeo-Christian but is that consistent? The nation of Israel is Judeo and has a Judeo heritage. Israel definitely is not Christian. So what makes America Judeo-Christian? Are we founded on a heritage that both embraces Christ as saviour and rejects Christ as saviour? What percentage of Americans practice Judaism? It's explicitly Christian teaching, tradition, precepts that made us free. Judaism opposes Christianity fundamentally.
