Peter Ustinov was a unique treasure, I wish more of his interviews - especially full Parkinson interviews were available with the visuals as his expressions were so much part of his storytelling.

Here is a link to some of the visual representations of these interviews. They aren't complete, but at least it's something! kzitem.info/news/bejne/tJyu3nmcnZ-fko4

Peter Ustinov god bless him was a talented genius and his impersonations of people he knew were outstanding. I could listen to him for hours and always looked forward to him appearing on talk shows especially Parky. We will never see a man with his talent again.

I like the fact that the band played the theme from Peter and the Wolf as he made his entrance. Ustinov is always fun to listen to. Thanks for posting.

I'm surprised that he didn't KNOW the UN would become the cesspool that it's become. He must have been quite an optimist.

Compare a raconteur like Peter Ustinov to some of the self-promoting nonentities paraded before us on today's chat shows. Will Graham Norton never run out of second rate mimes pontificating about their latest roles?

Peter Ustinov would have been brilliant on Graham Norton's Show.

I think this was from 1977, this interview is about his Autobiography Dear Me, which came out that year.

I suggest 1977 or maybe 1978 for this broadcast, given his autibiography was published in 1977

I love audio, and am an ardent admirer of Ustinov, but why do media celebrities ((incl interviewer) feel the need or compulsion to say "I mean" or "of course" at least once in every second sentence? It was disappointing to say the least that someone as eloquent as Ustinov could not resist the practice. I wonder if anyone had the fortitude to point it out to him.

in order to fit in at school, Peter picked up the English idioms probably to a fault, trying to be absolutely as English as possible ( Including those little conversational tics that you mention). He had a miserable time at school, they teased him thinking his name was German not Russian. This was just after World War One.

The poster probably probably tried to add it but couldn't or copyright reasons. At least you can hear it so enjoy it and don't be moaning. You can see clips of this interview from another KZitem upload that was part of a documentary of his interviews with Parkinson broadcast in 2005.

This was broadcast around 1977. It was most probably recorded on reel-to-reel or cassette tape. Lie back, close your eyes and visualise it for yourself. [Another Aussie in Aussie]

if ww2 had not happened we would not have lost India if we had not lost India Pakistan would never have been created. and if Pakistan had not been created this country would not be full of legal or illegal immigrants sucking the blood from this country (and p,s it has nothing to do with race its to do with why they come here)
