A friend of mine and I were country cruising a year or so back and ran pass this place and made guesses on what it was for. Glad to get some answers.

Thanks Clint, Pete has been a force in VHF/UHF and Microwave for many years. And he has an ideal site to do whatever he wants. One smart and super cool OP to meet and learn from. Wish you luck with your efforts and the kids. Who knows you may spark an interest in one of them who may go on in life to accomplish many great things. Best 73 Down Under. de JD - N0IRS

WoW....... I'm Speechless! That set up is way beyond anything I've ever seen. At what point does a hobby become obsession? I think he's passed that point a lifetime ago! Great video only problem is any station i ever see again will not be as good as that one...

Where in the hell, and just how the hell do you get a gun turret off of a cruiser and on that. That must have taken some serious logistics to pull off.

Hi very envious of your station, but one question, why mount the big dish so high ? the cost and effort to raise the dish 35 ft ?? as long as it can look at the horizon why bother raising the support. Surely the low angle signals will be just as noisy.

+colin martin Hi Colin, not my station. N0OY's out in Salina, KS. Pete's been around a long time on the moon. The turrent gun mount was not tall enough to get the Dish off the ground. Due to it's placement close to the house for a short wave guide run, it was necessary to raise it above the height of the house, otherwise the house would be in the way. May not seem practical to most people to build a 4 legged tower to support that much weight, but in the end serves a purpose.

Hi JD. This is amazing. I am currently working on a creative project that requires an expert in sending voice via EME bounce. Do you have a contact for Pete? I would dearly love to chat to him about the project. Many thanks.

Hello JD....just discovering your video, fantastic stuff!...and I'm so pleased to hear those echoes off the Moon, over the next 12 to 15 months we are assembling a 28 foot Kennedy Dish in Central Victoria. Prime purpose is Radio Astronomy but since the Astronomical Society of Victoria has it own Radio License (VK3EKH) we also plan to do EME, but just to be able hear your own echoes is just great, I'm looking forward to demonstrating EME to the kids that come up to the property lmdsro.com

Hi Rob, I'll pass the good word on to Pete N0OY in case he doesn't pul up the video comments. Pete has been getting a bunch of college students he's been working with involved in Ham radio. They have been doing a great job at the station. JD/N0IRS

I'd be willing to bet that anyone not in the know gives this installation a wide birth. They'd probably expect four or five guys to pour out of a black SUV with M16s in their hands.

Let's see. The video has been up on KZitem for almost 8 years now. I have no control over how the video gets corrupted over time. When it was produced uploaded 8 years ago it had no crackling. Hope that answers your question.
