@@VanquishAudio Point. Been using Milwaukee batteries for a project, and that's a point of consideration. They also apparently make battery powered trimmers. I would still insist on the convivence and availability of 2-stroke oil and straight gas, as opposed to chargers, in a professional context. Even with the batteries with meters, I recall a few times at one job (not trimming/mowing) where we ran out and the boss was pissed, because he forgot. If you run out of gas, pull out a container of oil, and draw a gallon of gas from any pump or resevior and you're good to go. Edit: Should point out, I'm also fairly rural. Electricity isn't always around, or the shop is miles from the worksite.

I work for a retailer that sells gas and cordless options for trimmers, without question gas still beats cordless in power, short term investment and longterm maintenance. The technology in cordless is catching up fast and it will beat gas soon, but it aint there yet. If i was to buy a trimmer tomorrow I would purchase a top performer in the corded electric category because I only have a few small areas to do and they are all close enough to an electrical outlet where a good quality extension cord does just fine.

The left will eventually do away with gas, it's happening now with cars. I'd go with the Ego, pop in a battery and keep going. You ran out of gas a need to go get more. My battery is charging while I use another. 😎

Our bodies have to constantly replace cells as they die and that is what ages us. Inhaling anything that accelerates cell death is an act that should be avoided. Also, cancer is basically improper growth of cell replication, and products that accelerate the development of cancer have already been identified for us and the warnings are printed all over the packaging, and this includes your own car that we all like to sit in with engine running, not moving for that AC or heat which is sucking in those exhaust fumes.

Battery is great for home owners to do their own lawns but gas just last longer and takes less time to get up and running if it runs out of fuel. So gas is good for businesses.

I went electric(greenworks 80v pro) because I had to fix one time too many. Always runs, no pulling cords, no mixing, no smell, low noise, great power. For me in my late 50s with an acre... Electric push, trimmer, blower, polesaw...for the last 3 years. 3 batteries and I've yet to use 2 in a day. Weather worship had nothing to do with it, just a convenient fit for me. You could keep a set of batteries charged on truck with a solar panel. 30 minutes to charge, 45 minute continuous run per 2amp battery. I technically could run all day with 3 in cycle.

If you do get an electric drummer make sure it comes with a fast charge charger Otherwise it takes 2 to 3 hours to charge a battery
@stinkycheese804
4 ай бұрын
Yeah, except it might as well take 2 to 3 hours because you still have to stop partway through, and if it's a rapid charger, it's harder on the battery and you have to replace it more often, which isn't inexpensive at all. Makes as much sense to pay that much more for a 2nd battery if the goal is just make the same jobs as expensive as possible. ;)

Electric units are improving so much that gas heads don't even realise. My "neighbour" brought a professional gas unit for his yard something always wrong with it...... He borrows my electric unit 1/3 of the price . Damaged it then say it's because it's inferior 😂. I bought another, he still borrows it.

So if you are trying to show a comparison, why don't you run each of them until they are out of power? In the case of the battery operated it would be until the battery has to be recharged and the gas powered until it is empty. Gas powered would accomplish a lot more. Which do I own? I have an electric and a battery operated one because gas fumes make my digits swell up like sausages plus due to an old wrist injury I don't have the strength to operate anything with a pull start. The reason I have a battery powered in addition to electric is I don't want to piggyback extension cords when I need to trim over 200' from nearest plug in. Gas powered is most time efficient and best performing in my opinion though.

Honestly if you have 3 batteries and two chargers running on an inverter in the truck then you'll be better off than with gas. Hell you could run the inverter off one of those commercial mowers if you don't want to be idling the truck all day. It'll cost less, much lower maintenance, less time fueling up, and takes up a lot less space in the truck, and the risk of hearing damage is minimized meaning businesses could potentially get lower insurance rates. My echo trimmer with 8ah battery lasts longer than my neighbor's 2 cycle echo.
@stinkycheese804

So you'd bring an extra mower, not even to mow with, but just to charge batteries? That's absurd. Might as well use a ICE generator instead, cheaper and takes up less space, and more fuel efficient too but that's still ludicrous to burn the fuel anyway when it could have just gone in the tool. It really doesn't make sense because you'd be using the tool a handful of minutes, have to stop and walk back to the truck or mower, swap batteries, walk back to the work, a dozen times a day, plus, you have to have spare batteries anyway because you're burning through them all. Do you realize that you're not even supposed to recharge a battery right after drained in a high current tool because it's too hot? Maybe not in a cool climate but otherwise, it really does not make sense to use cordless in a landscaping business where you're doing more than one charge worth of work, every few hours.
