Beaujolais, that is the birthplace of our Peugeot 504 Pick Up. In Macon Varennes, this car was once bought by Bernard Santé, winemaker in Julienas, one of the famous wine regions of Beaujolais. The Peugeot came into view a few years ago when we were visiting Bernard. He told us casually that he was saying goodbye to the trade and therefore wanted to sell his Peugeot. After some back and forth emails, we quickly reached an agreement and the Peugeot came to our country in the summer of 2021.

Once in the Netherlands, a partner had to be found to get the car back into good condition. Although the car has a low mileage, only 69,000 French kilometers driven, something had to be done. Nick Commijs from Automobielbedrijf was happy to take on the challenge, especially since his father also drives old Peugeots and therefore knows how to do it. This is how the Peugeot eventually ended up in Soest, where I enjoy having my Saab 93 Cabrio maintained.
A year passes quickly. A new beam was welded in, the engine was brought into optimal condition, baths were replaced, a new loading floor was installed and that was not all. On August 26-27 and 28, the Peugeot had its baptism of fire at Soestdijk Palace, where we were guests with our radio broadcast NH Gooische Business and as icing on the cake we were given a place among the Ferraris, Porches. Bugattis and much more with our Peugeot. Now completely in red and soon to be admired on Dutch roads!

....to rot away, there is simply no clean material...Yes! Considering how... that load-bearing construction is here. We're going to put a crossbeam underneath it just like here. Mart... Welder! OK...and then the entire construction will be supported on this. So instead of replacing the old beam, a new one is added. So it will be better than Peugeot could ever have imagined. Shall we also write a note to Peugeot about this? When it's ready? I don't think they want to hear it. The car is now 10 kilos heavier.
As you can see, we are working on the Peugeot, it will take a while, but it is coming. Voila, well we also removed 20-30 kilos of rust...Mike is from Seegers and Raven, I'm Raven! Mike Raven... Er, they took it upon themselves to wrap our Peugeot... that's called wrapping! That's a bit of a new fashion, isn't it, Wrapping, Mike! or not ? Well, it has been around for a number of years, but...yes lately, I hear it more and more often. Is it cheaper than spraying? It is cheaper than spraying, Yes! The advantage of this old beast is that if I ever sell it, which I won't of course, then the original paint is still underneath!
And then it can be taken off again. Yes, is it difficult to take it off again? No...certainly not, warm it up a little with the hairdryer and then pull it off again. And you also do it with the hair dryer on? YES and that's what you're going to do now, we'll see. Those largest areas are the best, Mike, aren't they? Those are the easiest, yes, finishing those small corners is the most difficult! Yes dear wine tube friends, welcome to Soestdijk Palace. On the weekend of the Concoiurs d'Elegance
Yes, and when you say Concours d'Elegance, that naturally includes the Wine Man, you understand that. But the Wine Man also has a scoop... because he is there, where you have been waiting for. That whole year...Bernard Santé's Peugeot in red, well it is the most unique car of the entire Concours, because there is only one of them! I have seen about eighty Ferraris, 36 Porsches, Lamborghinis and there is only 1 Peugeot 504 Pick Up and it belongs to De Wijnman, how nice is that?
