I remember My dad made the statement that an 8 row planter was not Twice as efficient as a 4 row..... it was difficult for a 12 year old to comprehend. It was just grasping the fact that it took longer to turn at the headlands the 8 row around, we opted for 6 row when we expanded in the 1960's when everyone of our neighbors were going from 4 to 8 rows it was the best fit for us....we did not raise corn but, we raised alot of cotton and soy beans and 6 38inch rows were alot easier to transport down the highways and used in some of our triangular fields with alot of point rows in fact thats why we bought a 20 foot wide grain drill several years later....

your still going to have to stop to fill seed regardless, like the concept though
