Water electrolysis with a small amount of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as electrolyte. I will add the minimum amount of NaOH in water with phenolphtalein so the pH is almost 8.2. This way with a bit more of alkalinity the phenolphthalein with turn pink.
Connecting the circuit makes OH- iones near the cathode or negative eletrode. OH- ions are of basic or alkaline characcter so the water will turn into pink. Near the positive electrode or anode appear H+ (and hydronium ions H3O+) of acid character.
Also, with bromothymol blue it is possible to see the baasic zone in blue color and the acid zone in yellow.
