This is why I like your case reviews above everyone else's, that you try different layouts so you completely eliminate the guesswork around the optimal configuration. Had a gut feeling that a top mounted PSU with a side mounted AIO and a bottom GPU with direct access to a side mesh would be the most efficient cooling solution, but seeing the numbers saves me from either having to try different configurations myself, or going with something inefficient if I can't be bothered to try different ones.

I sincerely appreciate the no nonsense approach, while still covering all of the fan configurations you could possibly think of. The chart at the end was the icing on the cake, and gives me a great confidence that this case is a top contender for a tower mini itx build. Thank you so much for this great attention to detail: chapterizing the video, summarizing at the end, including noise performance, etc. 10/10!

i was literally thinking looking at all the other reviews of the case to see which had best thermal results (without and with vertical mounting the gpu) and literally you were under all the them. This vid should be much higher up, very helpful!

recently purchased this case. glad I came across your configurations. Helped me a lot, thanks! Got a Phanteks AIO and an EVGA RTX 3070. I doubt I'll be able to get any fans under it though.

It's the third case review I watch from your channel (after the Fractal Meshify 2 compact and the NR200p) and I have to say your reviews and data analysis are truly amazing. I can't imagine the work and time you put into your tests. This is great work. Are you planning to test the Phanteks P600S ?

I feel like the obvious change here is to swap out the front fans for 140mm's, also flip the radiator so the tubes are at the bottom. I expect these changes alone could bring the noise levels down considerably. the 140's on the front should also help a bit with cooling.

Great review. I have teetering on rebuilding my current itx pc into 3 different cases, this phanteks being one of them. The Issue I have is the temps now that I have upgraded to an rtx 3080. Many of the sff itx cases present the threaten with this thermal issue, especially with a beefier card. This case appears to hit a sweet spot with it not being to big but still offering space and plenty cooling configurations. I appreciate you taking the time to actually test all of these different configs 👍🏽. I know which way to go now.

Awesome video! I'm curious. I've only got a 120mm AIO and was thinking of configuring my fans in this case like so: 2 front intake, 1 rear exhaust, and the radiator as a top side exhaust. Given these limitations I think this is about as close to achieving an optimal configuration as I'll be able to get. What do you think? Would you do anything differently if you were working with a 120mm AIO?

Great to have found this channel for my first PC build in 20+ years. Thanks, all completed safely. One question - could someone explain very succinctly how to use AIDA for the stress/thermal test. Is it just the CPU and GPU check boxes (I would like to be consistent for a true like for like comparison). Many thanks,

Hey thank you for such good information. Sorry if I missed this, but but have you tried using the "performance" non glass panel with the side vent and a vertical GPU? Seems like that would also provide extremely good temps, especially with the side aio exhaust CPU cooler.

Hello, what is the best configuration when using a CPU air cooler? I guess, front and side as intake and the rear as exhaust? Thanks in advance

I want to build an HTPC in this case but can only fit it into my entertainment center if it's lying on the side, so I'd be unable to use the side-mounted radiator like you demonstrated in the build guide. If the radiator is front-mounted, would I still be able to fit the 3.5" hard drive bracket in the case?

When you have a radiator on the side and a horizontal graphics card, for you it touched a part of the fan that isn't normally there on other fans, so it cleared the radiator. How much thicker could the radiator be there before it would interfere with the graphics card? I have a Corsair H105 which has a 38mm thick radiator, that's why I am curious. And with this radiator in the front, but fans outside the mounting plate like how you moved yours to be, how long could a graphics card be as mine is 330 mm long. I can't figure this out with the data on Phanteks' website or their manual, and they're not replying to e-mails it seems.

I had another question, kITGURUTECH did a review of this case with a 6800xt and the gpu thermals were close to mid 80s, much worse than yours. Do you think its because this case is better suited to smaller 2 slot gpus or are radeon cards just that much hotter than Nvidias stuff?

what about an aio with side intake, and all the other fans as exhaust? this way both the cpu and gpu have access to fresh air
@ResilientME

I have the Metallic Gear Neo version of this case(only 2 PCIE slot, solid front panel) and have found using the side for the AIO unimpressive in either orientation. It harms GPU cooling too much. I've set mine up with 240mm AIO on front and a rear fan all exhaust with the side sealed off, this forces the case to intake from the bottom and gives the best GPU temps. Had I a hotter CPU & more fans I might use the side as standard intake to give the AIO some fresh air.
