Phantom has always had the richest lower brass sound in Drum Corps, for my money. And phenominal balance between the voices. And this video highlights that about as well as anything that I've heard. Thanks for posting.

No matter what corps is your favorite, a true fan will admire the work of any corps. They've all worked for countless hours over the summer, in blazing heat and frigid cold, to perform for YOU. Only an ignorant fan would trash talk another corps. Don't be one of those people.

a good way to learn how to double tongue is to use only the K syllable like this : ku ku ku ku ku ku ku etc. just start with quarter notes, then eights, then triplets, then 16ths. after that, you'll realize that your able single tongue SO easily. Double tonguing wont be as easy, but you should be able to do it.

it's not really old. the first two corps switched in 2000 (Cadets and BD). The official reason for the switch was to make transition between HS and corps easier, since most high school instruments are in the key of Bb/F. Unofficially, however, I believe most corps realized after a couple of years that they had to assimilate. Bb's sound better in most aspects. And every World Class corps now plays on Bb.

There's still a lot of debate about that. I know on my 2001 CDs the Glassmen (on G bugles) are significantly louder than Cadets, SCV, BD, and Cavies who are all on Bb. Maybe something with the mics perhaps or it could be the horns themselves. Just my opinion.

Its not just the pitch and range, its the design of the bugle itself. But these arent G bugles anymore, its all B flat horns. G bubgles have a richer and more full sound but not always easier to control.

There was some fluff here and there, but you can't say it isn't clean based on the camera angle and their placement from the front of the arc. Lest we forget, sound takes time to travel. I'll be 10 bucks it was mighty clean from J.D's spot in the arc. Also remember that double tonguing exercises are more about maintaining consistent air speed while staying relaxed and firm at the same time. Everyone loves clean tonguing but I'm sure it's more mental and physical prep in the arc than anything

Not necessarily. There's no real volume difference. If you take a hornline and put them on G bugles in front of a deciblemeter and then switch them to Bb, you'll get pretty much the same reading.

@deanguitars11 They're a drum corps. And look at where their arms are placed. Those are definitely not sousas.
