Can I use this aside from ivermectin
@healthstuff101
3 жыл бұрын
@@yurijdosvidank9743 Both Albendazole and Ivermectin treat ascariasis. But Ivermectin has a complete different mechanism of action. Ivermectin is ussualy used to treat filariasis and trematode infections. Maybe I'll cover this drug in the next videos.

How’s the pharmacokinetics of the benzimidazoles? Especially in relation to food? Anything on that?
@healthstuff101
Жыл бұрын
Since benzimidazoles are soluble in lipids, it would make sense to take these drugs with a fatty meal, IF you want them to pass through the cell membranes of your intestinal cells, get into your blood, and target parasites in your body. But if you wanna target parasites in your intestines, it would make sense to do the opposite of that, meaning not fatty food or on an empty stomach. Good luck 🤞

Is the mode of action same for oxfendazole and fenbendazole?
@healthstuff101
2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Oxfendazole also blocks microtubule synthesis and the uptake of glucose

If a species of worm is resistant to albendazole, would that also mean resistance for mebendazole as well?
@healthstuff101
Жыл бұрын
Basically, yes. These drugs have that same mechanism, so if it's resistant to one, it's resistant to both. But maybe some exceptions have place to be.

@@healthstuff101exceptions like what? Can you please explain a bit more
@healthstuff101

@@insomniac4214 I meant that we need some new studies to confirm what I said. And who knows, maybe there are some differences between these two drugs. Here's a study from 2000: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC100151/

Can I ask what are can be happen if the egg of helminths are expose in this type of drugs?
@healthstuff101
2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it can affect a fertilized but not dividing egg. But when the cell in the egg start multiplying that's when albendazole can block the microtubule formation and kill it.
