Super important to be the alpha, especially with a super independent dog like a husky. Who is driving the car? Can the rescue husky really drive the car? Does he want to drive the car? Be the alpha, drive the car. That really is for his safety in the long run. Enjoy him, he's a great dog, but he really does want you to run this show. He didn't really enjoy trying to survive all alone, did he? That's what you rescued him from, right?

@Khanmots
3 ай бұрын
If only! I've had goldens and huskies, and while that works with goldens... my huskies will flat-out ignore even high-value treats (like liver) if they're actively not wanting to do what I want. They are so much more independent and not blindly wanting to plaese. Going from goldens to huskies has been at least as much them training me as me training them! 😂 Seriously, it's been me learning to make compromises with my dogs and setting expectations that allow them freedom of expression. They are going to be like a teenager and I've had to learn a whole different way to train. For example, when it's time to leave the dog park, one of mine has compromised with me. I need to catch his sister first, and once she's not getting to run free, then he'll come over and let me leash him and will walk nicely to the car. But he's not going to just hop in it. He's going to express his displeasure by putting his front paws in and expecting me to lift him in the rest of the way. And you know what? Given the starting point I had (both are rescues) with catching him being a huge ordeal and him pulling and fighting the whole way and making me fully carry him the last bit to the car... I can accept this 🤣
@evangeloevoxi

Goldens are the easiest level of dogs. Huskies are an entirely different story. Goldens were bred to retrieve and listen, huskies were bred to run for hundreds of miles in the snow and ice. Totally different mentality in the breeds, typically speaking.
