Well done and I suspect a very helpful topic (even for those of us who are not PhD students). Especially liked your point about prioritizing your work to what is most important and, if you leave anything out, it should be minutiae that doesn't really have an impact anyway. Also great advice about finding a work/life balance - something many of us have difficulty accomplishing but without which, we wear down and can become less effective in either area. And, I totally agree that having the "right" person to help keep you on track is ideal . . . and your suggestion that someone speak with students (or in my business life, it was other business professionals) to make sure that person is a good fit. Thanks for sharing this.

Failure and rejection of papers........How to handle this type of pressure.....??

Thank you for bringing this up. It is definitely an important and challenging point for many students. I think it is key to realize that if you could look at the list of rejections of any accomplished researcher, you would see a very long list of failures. Failures and rejections are part of our career, but we fortunately have the opportunity to use the reviewers' feedback to eventually get the paper published. If you have worked closely with your advisor on a paper, I am confident that you can take the reviewers' comments into account, address them, resubmit, and eventually get the paper published. Finding the right venue is also important. Good luck with your submissions!

i always leave some part for reviewers, if it is not fully rejected, I address the comments and reviews and resubmit otherwise, if something is very serious, i redo it, resubmit it and wait !
