Then they kill all the birds of prey, stoats and foxes to protect the non-native birds which are going to be filled with lead anyway. Pheasants aren’t a native bird and they outcompete many other native ground nesting birds like grey partridge (the same happens with red legged partridge yet there’s not as many red legs as pheasants so they aren’t having such a big impact). That said I don’t mind pheasants when they are allowed to live at natural sustainable population. I’ve got a small wild group on my 4 acre plot of land. No shooting goes on so they are relatively safe from humans unless they leave an area and go to other properties
