As a drummer myself,i would have to say hes a genius. The complexity of his rhythms on albums like wind and wuthering and and then there were three are mindblowing. For me it is his drumming that is his forte.Sure he is a good singer/songwriter but his drumming is often overlooked. He feels this himself,he once said "i am a drummer that happens to sing, not the other way round".His talent is immense, such a shame he can't drum anymore.

Wind and Wuthering and Then There Were Three? You can't be much of a Genesis fan or a Phil Collins fan either for that matter. It's the drumming he did with Genesis before Peter Gabriel left that are sheer genius. The drumming on "Nursery Cryme," "Selling England by the Pound" and "Foxtrot" are nothing short of brilliant. "And Then There Were Three" is a joke of an album.

Ricky - I am totally with you on that. Drummers like you and I can truly appreciate his skills. When tried out for Genesis, he was hanging out in the family pool and listened to Mike and Tony audition drummers. He got out of the pool, sat down at the drum kit an knew exactly what to play and blew everyone away with his feel for rhythm, poly-rhythms and skill. There are and were very few drummers of Phil Collins' level in this world.

I saw him in Sydney with friends and we didn’t know about his health issues. When he came shuffling out with a walking stick I thought it was a joke and imagined he was going to do a Willie Wonka - throw the stick away and do an acrobatic tumble turn, but no. He sat through most of the concert and although his singing was still very, very good and all the musicians on stage were excellent, the disappointment of seeing him so physically limited definitely affected our enjoyment of the concert. It’s very sad when our great musicians get old and frail, but sometimes you just have to accept when it’s time to retire from touring because touring is hard and must take an enormous toll on already poor physical health. Phil Collins should probably put his musical genius to other, less physically challenging projects for the hopefully many years he has left to live. I’m sure his talented children would like that.

A couple of months ago. One psychic said he was going to just fall off stage suddenly. Now I can see this. Sad. So creative.

I’m 65 years old and slowly all of my musical heroes are passing away. I saw genesis when Phil was singing background when Peter Gabriel was fronting the band, as well when Phil was up by front. Sorry to see he has to live in pain.

Phil Collins and Genesis have been the soundtrack of my life...we all get older and eventually fade away. But Genesis and Phil have made life so much more fun with their music. Will always love their music till the day I die...and beyond.

I knew Phil Collins since their early days. That time Genesis were a band that you found on album stores and music libraries and to concerts. Not in the radio. They were very different from other bands but was extremely fascinatiing and so skilled all of them. Very beautiful music that had many layers. They were my favorite band before they really got known into the big public in radio and streaming. Phil is probably one of the best drummers in the world and he also played experimental fusion in a band called Brand X. I loved that band too

I've been a huge fan since genesis first came out. Got all there records DVDs. Unfortunately never got to see them live. I cryed the day Phil could no longer play drums. But what a legacy Phil Collins has left to the world. And he's children. It's a shame. My favourite drum solo with Chester Thompson. Absolutely brilliant performance. By both. I Wish him well. from 🇬🇧👍👍 an old cockney gal.

The greatest recording artist ever, all the hits he had as a member of Genesis and a solo artist is incredible! The Genesis hit"Heathaze" along with all the other Genesis hits proved his dominance within that band!! And his solo career of course was equally dominant. Phil has remained strong through this very difficult time in his life and may he continue to do so cause me along with his other millions of devoted fans love him very much!!

His biggest fans are us, same age as him, with amazing stories of why we aren’t dead yet. Never sick in our whole lives until all of a sudden we became everyone’s concern.
